So the NASCAR Cup Series has 400 miles in Atlanta today.

Michael McDowell is on the pole. He's a bit of a journeyman, although he did win the 2021 Daytona 500 after a wreck on the final lap. He's never qualified #1 for the pole in a Cup car.

Logano, Busch, Gilliland and Larson round out the Top 5.

Betting targets:
Busch, Blaney, Truex

Odds-on favorite to win:
Larson @ +850

pretty wild story a couple years back when the deegans were basically caught cheating. a kid claimed his bike and everybody freaked out.
I had no idea they had claiming races. I'd be fucking pissed if someone bought my shit. Haha.

Xtreme Midgets
I googled that, and after a solid hour erm... "perusing" some specialist websites, I saw no sign of any race cars.

In unrelated news, I'm feeling somewhat dehydrated and my right arm is tired.

19 to go.
Red flag stoppage due to wreck.

Busch is 4th
Blaney is 1st
Truex is 6th

Crazy race. And there's no way we are done with the wrecks. These cars are loose as shit.

Holy shit!
What a finish!

Suarez on the outside got the win.
Blaney on the inside got 2nd.
In the middle is Busch, taking 3rd.

It's the first F1 Grand Prix weekend of the season, and the first qualifying session is about to start.

There's been last week's testing sessions, and three practice sessions so far this weekend, but everyone always sandbags in those. The first qualy session of the year is always the first chance to see who actually has good single lap pace, and who's car is not up to scratch.

I'm hoping for a close run thing, with Red Bull at least having some competition. The Red Bull has been by far the best car for the last two years, and as Max Verstappen is clearly a better driver than team mate Sergio Perez, it has meant two boring years with no real fight for the championship.

Aaaaaaaannnnd...

Max Verstappen is on pole.

At least there were a few drivers within 3 tenths of a second.

We'll get a feel for everyone's race pace tomorrow, sometimes the fastest over one lap can chew through the tyres faster than others.

Red Bull has just dominated lately.

The decline of Hamilton had been puzzling. Should be an interesting season with him leaving for Ferrari in 2025.

Horner is a horny little devil. Seems a spice girl isnt enough for him....
When they finish tracking the source, don't be surprised if they discover it came from some dude named Toto.

If you can't beat em...frame em.

He's in his late 30s, and Mercedes didn't have the fastest car on the grid any more.

You're correct, next season with Leclerc as his team mate will be a very interesting watch.

Just a heads up in case anyone is planning on watching the race, it's on tomorrow as it's in Bahrain and Ramadan starts on Sunday.

3pm UK time is the race start, I think there's 5 hours difference between the UK and East Coast USA so that would be 10am EST.

I watched.
Domination by Verstappen. He's in a league of his own at this point.

To be clear, Red Bull are in a league of their own, and Verstappen is extremely fast.

Sergio Perez overtook several cars to take a comfortable 2nd place. He certainly isn't a top tier F1 driver.

It's not impossible that other teams can out develop Red Bull over the course of the season, but it's looking like another boring runaway championship for Verstappen right now.

This is why I like indy car more it is more competitive and less predictable less dominance by one team and driver. I'm going to try to go to the miami F1 race though

It's the F1 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix this weekend.

Once again the race is on Saturday due to Ramadan, it starts at 5pm UK time which is 12 noon EST in the states.

If you do watch, prepare to not be thrilled by a battle for the lead, as in a shock to nobody at all Max Verstappen is on pole. If he gets a good start he almost certainly cruises off for another easy win.

Could be interesting behind though, with Leclerc in the Ferrari, the two McLaren team mates, Alonso in the Aston Martin and Perez in the other Red Bull battling. Russell and Hamilton were 8th and 9th, disappointing for Mercedes.

One to watch further down the field - 18 year old Ollie Bearman in his F1 debut qualified 11th, despite being scheduled to race in F2 (the feeder series). He only stepped into the Ferrari for the first time in the last practice session before qualifying when Carlos Sainz was diagnosed with appendicitis.
