Users of medical marijuana will soon be prohibited from growing their own pot — and the federal government is suggesting they turn to their feline friends for help in properly disposing of leftover stashes.

Health Canada recommends blending marijuana with water and mixing it with cat litter before tossing it into regular household trash.

“The primary option is to break down the materials, mask the odour and dispose of it in the garbage,” department spokesman Sean Upton said in an emailed response to questions.

Health Canada has announced a complete reworking of the medical marijuana system — in part due to concerns about the risk of criminal infiltration.

Under the existing program, to be phased out by April 1, people like Jason Wilcox of Abbotsford, B.C., are issued licences to grow marijuana for their personal use to help ease the symptoms of painful conditions.

Wilcox and thousands of others who cultivate their own pot have until the end of March to render any remaining weed “unfit for use or consumption.”

This is the recommended procedure for legally disposing of marijuana in Cannabis:

• Blend your cannabis up using water
• Mix the mixture together with kitty litter (masks the cannabis aroma)
• Dispose of the entire mixture in your home’s garbage storage

Note: Do not burn your excess plants or dried marijuana.


Edit: it's fine if I skip the kitty litter part and the garbage is in the front of my buddies house right?

I don't recall what brand but I'll dig them up when I'm home. I havent used them in many years. We have been making BHO for awhile now. I remember using my ice-olator machine towards the end of my bubble hash career. That thing was a life saver.

I've never even heard of an isolator and the only time I've had iceolater hash was many years ago in Amsterdam, shit was expensive at the time

Plan is to just do up some bubble hash each crop, then press that into rosin and I shouldn't even need to press any of the actual flower

We'll see how things go, I have a tendency to change my mind lol

Got a couple girls growing like a bush and already pretty even canopy
I started circling the longer ones around the 1gallon pot but wondering if I should just be keeping the main stem bent almost horizontal and then circle once I'm in the 3gallon pot in 2 weeks or so?

i havent made bubble hash since around 2005 when i lent my bro my bags and his house got raided by the cops.i have a frame with a silk screen on one side and window screen on the other that i use to screen keif and hot press that into better hash than my bubble bags ever made anyways.i like bubble hash but it was labour intensive and then you cant smoke it right away.nowadays i usually just make a quick wash with ice cold isopropyl because i get it for free from work .

Never really enjoyed hash but that's because it was mostly afgani dark hash and only way to really smoke it was bottle tokes lol, oh and tobacco literally makes me be sick hahaha

I did find my old bucket though. Adding this valve at the bottom also made the process a whole lot more efficient. Be careful drilling a hole through a bucket.
