The fight purse discussion isn't worth having given that we know that represents only a portion of a fighter's earnings. You can add up all of Derrick Lewis' earning, subtract it from what he owns and know that the math doesn't come close to adding up.

looking at articles around the time of ben signing with ONE he either made 1 million dollars over a 2 year period or got 50/50 to fight for them . i am going to go with 50/50 .he fought 7x so he made at least 700k plus chatri gave him a lambo . bellator probably paid him dogshit when he was the champ over there. they were still in the bjorn years and not really paying anyone big bucks . askren has to have some kind of money . he lives in cedar rapids iowa so his house is probably worth 250k max. now he pockets a half mil for this fight . ben is doing alright

Let's say he made $4million over his career. Pays his 40% taxes, has a couple kids, buys a house, gets a new hip and that money is cut in half or less. So he's got $2 million left to live for 60 years. My guess would be that he's lost a lot of money through his wrestling school particularly during covid and he knows his MMA days are long gone. If he didn't need the money I can't think of any other reason for him to have taken the fight.

Maybe CM Punk can step in next to fight JP. Somebody has to avenge the loss in honor of the Rofus’ gym!

Duke has got to be so disappointed about last night lol. This event was already pathetic, but that quick KO was the icing on the cake.

I mean, who would’ve ever thought that a professional fighter would get surprised by a classic 1-2 combo lol.

On top of the academies, I think his podcast is also relatively popular. But I have no idea what kind of revenue that generates for him. Some do well, but I can’t imagine he makes a ton off of the podcast.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think he's flat broke. But I also don't think he's rolling in cash or he would take that kind of a fight for $500k (even a million) if he knew he was going to be living comfortably into his 90's.

A quick google just informed me that Ben made $830,500 during his short UFC stint.

not bad, higher than I would’ve guessed

its probably the only fight being offered to him and no one is offering a 500k payday on bens best day. this was most likely bens last kick at the can for his biggest payday ever. he probably overestimated his ability because he is a pro fighter and underestimated jake paul because he is a clown

This seems like an accurate assessment.

Ben got “Chael Sonnen’d” with the Chael curse.
Chael was going balls deep all week about why Ben was going to win.

lol can’t wait to hear what old Chael has to say this week. Funny because Chael promotes an online betting service, but he’s wrong so often with his fight picks.
