Infectious disease doctor here tells me that some early studies show the ability to take antibodies from recovered people and provide them to others that are sick for treatment to blunt the disease effects. this is a pretty cool idea and apparently there's precedent for it. If you get the Corona virus and recover donating blood might be very important soon.

I still think this thing will come back in the fall because it's too soon. But long-term I wonder if this just falls into the background as the whole world gets exposed to it just like every other common cold coronavirus virus. Kids already show that they get sick and recover similar to other viruses as is there gauntlet of childhood immunity. Sooooo, we slow it until we get a vaccine which helps protect susceptible adults and then it just sort of gets around everywhere and we forget about it??? Unless you're somebody who doesn't build lifelong immunity which is plenty of people to childhood viruses. Maybe.

So, in your professional opinion, was China’s reaction to the virus warranted? Welding apartment buildings shut, bricking up business, mobile aerosol tanks, incinerators..

Nothing about my profession prepares me to be anything but a layman on such public policy.

But as such a layman, I would hope we could find different responses other than welding people in. That seems ridiculous to me. But I wasn't at ground zero

The effect of just banning large gatherings and slowing international movement seems hugely beneficial with minimal individual harm.

If this is an actual thing, what a breakthrough. Should be made law to donate.

Just left Target. They had paper towels earlier but didn't any more (I didn't need them, I was just looking for wipes, which they didn't have).

A woman stopped at an empty cart someone had briefly walked away from and asked a few people around if it was theirs. When they said no, she seriously deliberated stealing the paper towels in it before thinking better about about it.

Anyone over 6'3" - check shelf tops. I found this antibacterial dish soap in the back of one that I am sure someone missed because the dish soap aisle was wiped clean.



It probably does fuck all to viruses but it was only $2 so I got it. I proceeded to walk around the store casually holding it and hoping someone was willing to test their TDD by trying to take it from me.

No takers.

somebody tell this guy it is possible to chemical burn yourself with that stuff, to the point of blistering and swelling...I know first hand

Really? Dish soap? I'm icky about food remains on plates so I always wear rubber gloves when I'm soaking anything before sticking it in the dish washer so I wouldn't know.
Bought some anti bac the other day.
