This is true and people should keep that in context. We live with a lot of bad infection stuff and people take deadly flu lightly, even though swine flu is around still. But I've got a vaccine for that too if I want it.
This Coronavirus disease is not as deadly as has been proffered early on with SARS-like references of 10% death rates, which came from China not knowing wtf this new thing was and limited testing. It's not 50x as contagious. But it isn't the same as seasonal flu. It looks like Pandemic flu, which is deadlier but not world ending. S Korea and others have shown that you can test a bunch and get the death rate down.
You should be concerned that we still aren't testing.
Wash your nasty hands and stay home to not spread this stuff faster. It's actually pretty easy to flip from Italy (15x flu death) to S Korea (1-2x flu death). But it appears testing needs to be part of that strategy to maintain a modern western country and we still aren't testing at a large enough scale to respond. If you don't test, you have to assume. If you assume then you have to assume worst case. Sooo do you then get China lock downs (
@sparkuri help me!!!!!!!).
Don't take this as nothing and don't panic. Find ways to stay home maximally. Help others do the same. That's the fix here. Do that for the next 3-4 weeks. If not, you get system overruns. And while the disease didn't change, you've hacked the western healthcare system.
EDIT - I want to add, SHAME others for going out. Not just help them stay in. I'm in Texas watching machismo dudes tell me they aren't worried about it and going to the bar. Mofo, I'm not worried about it either, but the numbers are clear. It's easy to just NOT go to the bar/club and slow the spread so the system can respond.
