My cousin's birthday is today, so I sent him a happy birthday/sorry about the timing text and this was his response (he included a picture of himself on the roof of a building in downtown Los Angeles in our text convo):

Thanks. Always knew I’d spend my 34th birthday on a DTLA roof during a global pandemic with a bigot reality tv star republican president giving out socialist checks during the 2nd economic crisis of my life

Harvard University Professor and Two Chinese Nationals Charged in Three Separate China Related Cases

Justice.gov document^^^

"Unbeknownst to Harvard University beginning in 2011, Lieber became a “Strategic Scientist” at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China and was a contractual participant in China’s Thousand Talents Plan from in or about 2012 to 2017."

"The complaint alleges that in 2018 and 2019, Lieber lied about his involvement in the Thousand Talents Plan and affiliation with WUT. On or about, April 24, 2018, during an interview with investigators, Lieber stated that he was never asked to participate in the Thousand Talents Program, but he “wasn’t sure” how China categorized him."

"Zaosong Zheng, 30, a Chinese national, was arrested on Dec. 10, 2019, at Boston’s Logan International Airport and charged by criminal complaint with attempting to smuggle 21 vials of biological research to China. On Jan. 21, 2020, Zheng was indicted on one count of smuggling goods from the United States and one count of making false, fictitious or fraudulent statements. He has been detained since Dec. 30, 2019."

Serious question. RaginCajun @RaginCajun Splinty @Splinty and his name I can’t remember( A doc that would do mma events) how are you guys holding up? I hate looking at people that I known for years, must be hell to deal with sick randoms. Keep up the good work. Rest of the forum stay safe. BRB.
From a COVID-19 standpoint our hospital system is doing ok-at the moment.
The biggest concern for most hospital systems right now is the lack of PPE, and the huge reduction in business due to not being able to do non-emergent procedures and people being afraid to come to appointments. If this continues for any length of time, the government is going to need to bail out hospitals or you will see whole hospital systems going bankrupt.

Today....

Today I was given an official pass to travel on local roads, just good for to and from work.

Today I was notified of a positive covid exposure on March 13. Two more days of symptom checking twice a day with a delegated supervisor.

But not ordered to stay home from work, of course.

I was blown away that it took 12 days to notify me.

I even mentioned mild symptoms. They still didn't send me home.

Grrr...lol

That's awesome. Did they design that?
Yes. She dreamt up the concept/requirements and with her husbands expertise they designed a pattern for a 3D printer to be able to make those that can be emailed to any hospital. Now FDA approved. Brilliant does not even begin to capture the brainpower involved here IMO.

Thanks man. It's actually stressful as fuck right now. The facility I work at right now seems to have no real plan for a scenario in which the staff is exposed or tests positive. It seems the only real care is for the patients(which of course is the most important thing) but no care for the workers. I honestly have never seen anything like this before and this is not my first rodeo... I was stuck at work for 2 weeks during Hurricane Katrina with no power and the nurses felt more protected then now.
The hospital management where I'm working are doing only the minimum required. They had us reusing respirator masks in the beginning. Smh

damn
those FBI surveillance ops are sketchy
sometimes they bait the person into doing something and then take them out when they do something

the details will be interesting
the RCMP has been caught setting up people with fake bombs and talking them in to committing crimes in the past too
