You have highly prominent officials in iran who can get the best healthcare iran has to offer dying and people here think people are saying it is worse than it is. Stop comparing it to the deaths of the normal flu. This shit is most likely lab made and spreading like crazy. Highly contagious

You all should be ashamed of yourselves making this the most active thread on the forum. #hoax

Pneumonia deaths YTD: 23,252
Influenza deaths YTD: 2695

United States stats only. Source: CDC
7 weeks of data.

If you extrapolate that to current totals, something like 33,360 total deaths in the US.

But the media has everyone in a tizzy over 2 US coronavirus deaths. TWO.

The media should be ashamed of themselves. They should be preaching best practices and truth. Not causing panic.
All about that hysteria. Canada telling us to stock up. Meanwhile not shutting down borders or banning flights to COVID-19 hotspots

People are sharing images of long lines, empty shelves at Costco amid COVID-19

I agree that it would be nice if they didn't cause panic for ratings, but I disagree about the deaths. If you are not testing people then you have no idea who died from this disease vs. something else. They have only confirmed two, which is different than there have only been two.

Just an update in my area, apparently an Asian woman was attacked for wearing a mask - i.e. being perceived as sick - and now no one in NYC wants to wear a mask because they don't want to be a target.

I thought I would start seeing more and more, but I saw a total of two masks today on the LIRR, at Jamaica (big junction station), in Penn Station, and on two different subway lines.

But everyone is still sniffly, just PRETENDING to not be sick.

Hopefully the tide turns but so far imo this isn't great.

Well that’s not too bright. My first instinct if I assumed someone had the virus would be to stay as far away from them as I could not initiate body contact.

Thanks for this. I'm heading up to NYC (midtown) next week for work and was wondering how freaked out folks are up there.

Physically attacked?
No. It's pretty damned colossal now. People in smaller towns aren't taking it as seriously as you in NY and me in Silicon Valley but it's pretty serious.

Makes sense. Attack someone because they might have a flu.

People have lost their minds.

In a month this will all be over and the media will have latched onto a new headline.

I don't mean to make light of it - I just struggle to find the reason for hysterics. If you have a bad immune system or are super old, yeah - stay away from people.

Otherwise, just drink plenty of fluids and take some NyQuil if you start feeling bad. ;)

Despite what the media wants you to think, it's not a death sentence. People get sick. Then they get better. For the vast majority of the public anyway.

It's Iran.
We probably have better healthcare in our grocery clinics.

Also, he was 71.
And an Iran 71 isn't the same as a normal 71.
