That is basically what I have been advocating. There is no reason that expect a cure or vaccine to become available near term, and no reason the expect the virus to just vanish. Lockdowns are probably just changing the date of infections if there is available hospital capacity.

It lowered emissions by about 5-7% for one year. Which is good, but we need to lower emissions permanently every year by that amount until 2030.
