And I would reiterate that humor is subjective. People make categorical statements about what's funny as though it's a set thing. They say, "Women aren't funny and there are no funny women in stand up." ... untrue.
They say, "If you have to explain a joke, it's not funny." ... also untrue.
If one person laughs at a joke, it was funny. Just maybe not to you or me.
Also, "just when I think the internet will allow us to raise our collective empathy..."

not everything is about Trump, Joe Biden has a longer history of Zero Empathy in public policy than Trump, so probably not best to try and lay this at his BigOrange feet.
That being said, if you want to go by the logic of "if someone laughs it's funny" then "if someone thinks you're an asshole you're an asshole"
I think the reason this is so annoying in this circumstance is the people who are doing the "humor" are doing it from a place of at least as much, if not more, ignorance than the people who they're grave-dancing. Sure, some of the people are just horrible people and IDGAF how they die, I'm going to laugh and make jokes about it.
But I can't laugh at a 45 yo mom who died because the gov't and media have been lying for 2 years and she didn't know who to trust.
If it turns out that vaccine makes women infertile or causes birth defects, will the same people be on here posting pictures of deformed babies and making snarky comments about the retarded parents?
Humor is only useful in a tragedy inasmuch as it unites us in our shared grief. Divisive comedy because you want to feel less shitty about the things your 'team' has done is just being a self-centered asshole. Where are all the 'progressives' taking accountability for smearing the lab leak hypothesis? Aren't they just as (if not more) culpable in deaths and suffering? Imagine if we knew 2 years ago that a deadly virus had leaked from a lab in China (and wasn't of natural origin), and explain how that isn't the fault of the very same people who are grave-dancing "horse dewormer derpa".
