Isle = Small island

I will allow it.
Wasn't correcting the spelling. Didn't even notice that. I meant that reaching across the aisle refers to cooperation in Congress for the purpose of having to make laws and has nothing to do with the executive branch. jason73 @jason73 was saying not cooperating with the president is not reaching across the aisle, but in practice the term only has meaning in a legislative setting. In parliamentary systems, the PM literally comes out of the aisle. The weirdos who founded this country were still enamored with Kingship, if not kings.

ones hot and ones not

Tulsi speaks calmly, regularly discusses foreign policy, and references American respect and power inward and outward. It comes off calm, cool, collected.

Warren has a wavering voice and sounds frazzled when others go for the neck. She gets higher pitched when she wants to show she's excited and thus energized and invested in a topic.

I can absolutely see someone watching the debate see Tulsi as focused and level headed, and Warren seeming frazzled and ranting, and all of that coming across as reasonable versus crazy, etc.

I believe that, but just am trying to parse out what makes Warren crazy left versus some of her opponents.
These people are convinced that politicians who would be considered right-wing market fundamentalists in any normal country are actually rabid socialists trying to launch a communist insurrection. I mean they think Barack fucking Obama of all people was a crazy 'leftist'. There's not much point trying to have a sensible discussion with them.

Warren used to be a Republican and she would still be considered a conservative in many countries. Her strongest point is her willingness to take on rent seeking financial interests - which is actually perfectly in line with pro-market ideology and how it's supposed to work. It's just that the American people have been pumped with so much pro-oligarchy propaganda that they think even card-carrying capitalists like her are out to get them.

p. She accused 2016 Green Party nominee Jill Stein of being a “Russian asset.” And she suggested Russia might back Gabbard as a third-party candidate.

“They’re also going to do third-party again,” Clinton said. “I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on someone who’s currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”

Hillary Clinton spoke about President Trump's involvements with Ukraine on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" Sept. 30, the latest of a slew of comments in recent weeks. (Allie Caren/The Washington Post)
Clinton did not provide any evidence for her claim, though a spokesman later insisted to CNN, “This is not some outlandish claim; this is reality.” Gabbard, though, has previously ruled out an independent campaign.

The “again” in Clinton’s quote referred to Stein, om some Clinton supporters have accused (rather baselessly) of serving as a spoiler for Clinton in 2016. Stein got around 1 percent of the vote in the three decisive states — Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — but exit polls showed most of her voters wouldn’t have supported either Clinton or Trump if Stein weren’t running.

Clinton then flat-out labeled Stein a “Russian asset.”

“And that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset,” Clinton said. “Yeah, she’s a Russian asset — I mean, totally. They know they can’t win without a third-party candidate. So I don’t know who it’s going to be, but I will guarantee you they will have a vigorous third-party challenge in the key states that they most needed.

The language here feels wrong. If Tulsi or anyone wants to run third party, go for it. Trying to torpedo that and bias it beforehand is irresponsible. The only reason they cant win is favoritism of the two parties inherent in state election laws. It feels disgusting to suggest someone is an asset if they run knowing they can't win. Feels like a two party nominee pushing a two party system.
