I definitely underestimated how well Youngkin would do but as I'm driving through cotton farms right now it's very apparent who really went for his bullshit.
McAuliffe had a terrible campaign but I was definitely expecting him to still win based on how many early votes were cast.
Youngkin managed to scare some formerly red counties back to red after Trump lost them.

Biden has never been loved here. There were never a ton of signs for him during the election or anything. Trump lost counties that have been historically red.
Youngkin struck a nerve by getting CRT being talked about and capitalized on McAuliffe gifting him a great soundbite about how he wasn't going to let parents decide what was being taught in schools.
