Toronto is always being accused of aspiring to be American up here but not the rest of Ontario. Alberta on the other hand is very American. Southern Alberta was settled by people from from the US.

Sounds to me like Birdwatcher just doesn't like Ontarians

Meh, it's a bit of a one way street. I can't speak for southern Ontario, but around here people aren't very concerned with the day to day activities of people in other provinces. It's actually a really bizarre phenomenon to talk to someone thousands of miles away who is not only 100% sure that everything you do is wrong, but also that they know what you should be doing in place of it.

I had an amigo from Barrie Ontario back in the 70s. It was considered a small town in Ontario then but now I understand it's practically in the GT area.

Its grown insane amounts
Pretty big city now, some good festivals in the summer about 10 minutes north
