I had an amigo from Barrie Ontario back in the 70s. It was considered a small town in Ontario then but now I understand it's practically in the GT area.
@Readily Formed Voltron I didn't realize Fort Lauderdale was that close to Miami. I recall them having their own pro soccer team back in the day. It seems like that whole region is full of large cities nearby one another. It must be congested as all get out down there. The humanity.

It is congested as fuck but Miami takes it to another level. In Broward and Palm Beach counties, we creates more cities/communities further west to spread the population out and avoid too much congestion.
Most of Miami-Dade is basically a 10-mile radius. Their solution for the end of I-95 (an interstate that goes all the way to Canada) is to go from a 5/6-lane super highway with a speed limit of 65 mph to a 3-lane road with a speed limit of 45 mph and a traffic light every two fucking blocks.
I'd really like to know who the urban planners were at the time so I can find their ancestors and punch them in the face.
We're already the most congested city in North America and the solution of the planners is to build more housing. A lot more. Most of it is being bought up by mainland Chinese gangsters and money launderers who leave the units unoccupied 25% of the time and drive the prices beyond the reach of the native population. We have what must be the most corrupt, least representative government at the provincial and the municipal level in the history of modern western liberal democracy and are well on our way to Chinese colony status.
How much does a manicure cost in Miami? Worth the ten minute drive?

Trudeau has recently declared that we don't really exist as a cultural entity anyway so I suppose it'll be no great loss eh.

I would say quite the contrary. While we out here tend to resent their political power from time to time I would say they are the true authentic Canadians.

Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, Wayne Gretzky, Conor McDavid - they all hale from there. And they speak with the stereotypical accent you guys think we all have. They're Canadian as fuck, there can be little doubt.
It's too bad they don't keep i95 6 lanes going south, then just have it end in a ski jump into the atlantic.
