Went to the parents for dinner yesterday.missed the fights because they live like savages with no internet or tv.had a great feast.slept on the shittiest bed ever and watched movies on a vcr.then they needed 5 cords of wood moved from one side if the yard to the other.good times.now im home blazing and cutting turkey farts

It was my parents. We went out for supper on Saturday with them after the pumpkin growing contest and that was supposed to be out thanksgiving. I was told this was going to be a small meal just to get together, I found out that was untrue when we arrived.
It was very good, there was more on the table but I forgot to take a picture after it was completely set. Dessert was pumpkin or apple caramel pie with ice cream but I was way too full.
The China was my great grandmothers. When she passed my mom got it. She occasionally breaks a piece and gets super upset because it's stupid expensive and hard to find.
I love it. I'e never seen that mind of China in a square shape. I really want mash potatoe and gravy !
I'm going to break it down here for everyone once and for all.
Bacon is strips, same as in the states. Where our bacon differs from yours is peameal bacon. Which is fucking magical. The "Canadian Bacon" you guys get is basically a lazy facsimile. It is different from ham though. You really need to step your pork game up.
They were actually whipped potatoes with butter and sour cream. Whipped are a much smoother consistency than mashed and I've liked them better since I was a kid.
If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it, just be sure you get some salt, pepper, butter and sour cream (if you like it) in there when your whipping them up.
We have pea meal bacon here too. It's basically backbacon wrapped in crushed peas. I've honestly never understood the reason people like it so much, side bacon is superior in every way.
