Not that big of a deal but subsequently your then stuck in a disaster of with no electricity for weeks.
This is the worst part about hurricanes. The last major hurricane to directly hit the US 12 years ago that everyone's talking about?
That would be Wilma. No power for over 2 weeks.
The most deceptive storm and my life has been hurricane ike. I think it was only category 2 when it made landfall in Texas. The storm was enormous and hit on the low lying areas like galveston with the storm surge side. Flooding everywhere and nobody prepared.
Again, Wilma.
I didn't fill up my car with gas because the meteorologists said it'd only be a cat 1 when it hit us.
Well that whore ended up being a cat 3. Apparently hurricanes don't weaken when they pass over a flat, humid fucking swamp like the Everglades (the bitch came from the Gulf coast).
All gas stations at the time were on electrical power so none could sell gas afterwards (the law has since been changed and now a certain % have to have backup generators).
I remember Rita though. Also in 2005, after Katrina but before Wilma. Everyone got the fuck out of town because they thought southeast Texas was gonna be the next New Orleans, right?
