Holy shit at those videos. Wow. I can't even imagine being among something like that.. Your entire home and everything you own, and all of your neighbors around you, just ripped to shreds. Your whole area devastated. Fuck.. we had a tornado a few years back and that blew my mind unlike anything I'd seen before. But I live in an area that is basically disaster free, never experienced an earthquake, a real hurricane, and the tornado was a one time thing in my lifetime.

This is literally unfathomable to me, seeing how those homes are destroyed, I can't imagine what it would be like to experience something so terrifying. I drove through Joplin in 2011 about a month after their tornado and I couldn't believe the destruction and how far it extended, but cleanup was underway by then. Still though, just seeing something like that in real life was extremely sobering. Mother nature is unstoppable, we are powerless when it wants to fuck shit up. A sobering thought.

One day this past June we got 10 inches of rain in 24 hours. Even though we get hella rain in the summer, it's the most rain I've ever seen in that time span.

Houston and some other cities might get 40 inches in 24 hours. Highest I read so far is 24-25 inches.

That is just fucking insane.

They were predicting the three foot mark since before landfall.

The big unexpectedness has been how broad that three foot has been. It's the largest flash flood area recorded in Texas.

And how they will probably be is stalling and a double tap of the hurricane. Couldnt be any worse.

I'm in Africa but my wife is home. Our cars are in a ground level parking garage. Its about 4 feet higher than the street. Four more inches and we will have water in both of our cars. There is no where to move the cars. The street is chest deep or higher.

The medical centre has engaged the basement flood doors that were installed after tropical storm alison.

The city is short on boats for this scale and have called on citizens that have deep water boats to volunteer if they can. An encouraging my friend help out. Not only because he has a good boat that can help, but how often do you get to drive a boat down interstate 10 legally?

1. Get 100 bricks and stack them into four even piles of 25.

2. Jack your car up and place a stack under each wheel.

3. ????

4. Profit
