Lol @ these pussies complaining about a few campfires when the thread is about a category 5 hurricane that is going to destroy everything in its path.

Boo fucking hoo, there will be a bad smell on your back porch.

Enjoy your electricity and running water.
You've never seen what a wildfire can do apparently. I'd rather endure hurricane winds and rain than a wall of fire bearing down on me.

I don't think you understand how electricity works or is transmitted.

Just pack your shit and GTFO already.

And go where? A normal 3-hour drive to Orlando currently takes 8 hours. And Orlando isn't even safe.

I have shutters. My building is hurricane-safe. I've lived through a category 5 and a category 3 and I'm still here, clowning people on internet forums.

I'm not worried about what happens during the storm. What worries me is the aftermath. Running away won't make that any better.

5 hours traffic isn't worth your life?
Hell 8 hours you can float away for all I care but a measly 5. Hell even I'd drive that to save your troll ass.

My life is in no danger.

My point about driving is that if it takes 8 hours just to get to Orlando, how long would it take to get somewhere safe? Because Orlando isn't safe. I'm not even sure the gulf coast is going to be safe. I'd have to go inland, to somewhere like Tennessee, and I don't know if I'll have enough time to get there. I also don't know that I'll be able to get gas along the way.

It's about practicality, not inconvenience.

Same question, why are you waiting around? If it's as bad advertised what's the sense in hanging around?
The storm will be fairly weak by the time it hits Orlando if coming north from Miami. No trees overhead of my house. Parents have storm shutters for most of their windows. We should be fine.

Looks like it'll be a Cat 4. That's pretty serious. Tornado and flood are the big threats.
Floods and storm surge are only a problem in low-lying or coastal areas, neither of which I live in.

Tornadoes are a problem, as is overall wind speed. 145 mph will knock down most of the trees around me.

I saw a video of this thing passing through the Caribbean on its way to Puerto Rico before it gets to FL.

Gnarly is the term that would fit. Not pretty at all.

FYI Katrina had similar projections and completely said fuck that and went a totally different direction.

Do you guys think that cold front will be enough to turn this monster? CAT 5 moving at 15mph. I've seen models be wrong before by overestimating a pressure system and the storm moving right through it.

Good question. Typically, the early storm track predictions have tended to underestimate the degree that storms turn north and then east once the storms are at or above the latitude of Georgia, but occasionally (Katrina for example) the storm never makes the expected right hand turn as it nears the continental US. It will be interesting to see what happens through Friday, still hoping to see a north then east turn that takes this out to sea and away from the mainland US. The reports from the islands are very sad.
