While I applaud UFC for stepping up and making an example out of the fighter who is, arguably, THE face of the promotion, at the same time, I truly hope Jones gets the help he so, obviously, needs. In this day and age of 24-7-365 media hype and frenzy, never-ending social media contact and disposable celebrities, sometimes the humanity gets overlooked. Jones is a supremely talented athlete, who has lived a charmed existence, until recently. There are numerous examples of similar individuals, entertainers, athletes, etc., who have experienced blinding success at an early age, becoming of a mindset that they are "above it all (the law included)." Very few have come back from a brush with disaster to regain their former brilliance, especially, under the constant scrutiny available in today's world. Even if Jon Jones never steps foot in the octagon again, I hope he gets his life together, accepts his failures, doesn't blame anything other than himself, and acquires a real-world sense of who he is and what he has been given. Admittedly, it's a longshot, but I'm rooting for him!
