raging al iaquintaI'd watch also and on a side note, who is lee's loss to?
No shame in thatraging al iaquinta
Lee seems to use bitterness and hatred to get motivation to fight. It's interesting that he's very polite, laid back, and humorous in personal convos or with fans but legit turns rabid when confronted with a male near his weight. Cracks me up when he desperately searches for a reason to dislike someone. When he can't he just says fuck it, I don't like him for no reason and I'm ok with that. LOL!Probably the endless selfies in posh kitchens, in this case.
Do you take being called white as an insult? The use of the word white was just an adjective. Maybe he would have said privileged black kid if that is what Sage is, or maybe not, but I don't think you can draw any racist overtones from it.No shame in that
But there is shame in his racist undertones in his call out.
Sure, what does Sage's race have anything to do with him as a fighter. Why would he need to call out Sage the "privileged white boy" instead of calling out Sage the fighter who's 19 and getting more press than him?Do you take being called white as an insult? The use of the word white was just an adjective. Maybe he would have said privileged black kid if that is what Sage is, or maybe not, but I don't think you can draw any racist overtones from it.
I'd watch also and on a side note, who is lee's loss to?
You know James Lee? Been to Inkster?I'm mexican and grew up in Detroit my whole life, I have many friends of all colors, ethnic backgrounds whatever you wanna call it, and I specifically remember my black friends having no problem with me saying nigga (maybe cause I'm brown) but as soon as one of out white friends would say nigga they would get on their case about it being out of line. They just wanted reason to feel discriminated against , IMO if I was black it wouldn't bother me if someone said "what's up my nigga" if they weren't black as well but even considering the history of the word, its obvious why black people feel condescended against when anyone else calls them nigga but then why to they in turn call each other niggas on a daily basis?
i love that you're actively being part of the solution. but it's not hard to understand why he added "white."I get the fact that he's rich and privileged and how you can fault him for not busting his ass for 15+ mma fights before ufc signed him, but why did he have to bring skin color into the mix? "Rich privileged white kid" why not kid "rich privileged kid"?
Being white is 100% used as an insult by black people. Look how mad they get when someone gets an education and doesn't talk like an uneducated moron. When they do this it's being soft or acting white.i love that you're actively being part of the solution. but it's not hard to understand why he added "white."
i mean...given the history of african-americans in the U.S... white people are privileged. getting accused of being rich and privileged is hardly and insult as far as racial slurs go.
i get lee's point, entirely. although I agree with you he could easily make it about the dude and not his race. americans have to start somewhere..here in this forum is as good as place as any.
I'm sure it's frustrating to fighters who have to work so hard to get where there at then some young dude whose parents easily paid for all the sports training,.. end up getting so much publicity. Lee has to trust in his fan base and mma fans though and realize we don't all get distracted by shiny objects (sage)
it does kinds speak on the UFC as a professional sports league though..if they'd part with some of their profits to establish state of the art training facilities around the country..imagine the awesome fights we'd see in a few years. i've thought this before..being professional is more than matching uniforms.
very vaild point. it is all in context. the whole debate about saying nigga/ninja black people saying it ..white people saying it.Well it's all in context. Is it life better to have had a good life? Absolutely. But is it better to be familiar with pain when it comes time to fight another man in a cage for money? I don't know, but I want to know.
Anyway it's clearly not Sage's fault or a flaw in his character that he was born how he was born. But these types of equations of character, challenge, toughness and experience are fun to watch get solved. In sweet, sanctioned violence. Heh.
again...being accused of being educated is hardly and insult as far as racial slurs go..Being white is 100% used as an insult by black people. Look how mad they get when someone gets and education and doesn't talk like an uneducated moron. When hey do this it's being soft or acting white.
Good post, breezed through it, but I'm going to read through your links and what not. It's important to be educated on and learn more about.very vaild point. it is all in context. the whole debate about saying nigga/ninja black people saying it ..white people saying it.
it's very easily explained by the black cultural perspective..white people don't have the background knowledge of that particular cultures' heritage.
it's not bad..it's not good...it's just how it is.
white people have to allow other cultures to be how they are without feeling the need to say what is allowable or acceptable to that other culture. just as I would say people of the black culture have to allow all other cultures to be how they are.
it's a cognitive dissonance thing..white culture has to synthesize there's no place anymore for a dominate racial ideology. i'm not calling anybody here racist..but we ALL know there's white people who still feel this way.
it's so deeply rooted though oppression and lack of legit equal opportunities starting with education... it will take generations of time to truly have civil equality. i brought that up specifically because somebody made these comments.

It's amazing to me that being raised by a loving family and having a good life is looked at as a bad thing by some people. Clearly a better life is a home with no dad, and a mom slangin pussy in the hood.
Or just a dad and a mom struggling to support their family. Why does it always go back to the hood? there are plenty of people living in the country living off welfare and WIC working at low income jobs
i've been doing hours and hours of research on why this happens in america. i can link you to some boring ass scientific peer reviewed academic journals if you want..or just sum up that if all american kids have 100% literacy skills...they are that much more likely not to end up in poverty. therefor if all people have equal opportunity to a high quality education the minority demographic will be able to join white people in the land of richness and privilege where they belong. and it's not just a race thing..it's a socioeconomic thing as well..it's just that the white people dominate upper levels of the system. there's a reason for that.. i've committed myself to helping underprivileged kids one kindergarten class at a time.
again...being accused of being educated is hardly and insult as far as racial slurs go..
but you really have to think about where that's stemming from...what makes black people have that perception of white people?
just so you know where i'm coming from...here's a few links.
http://www.readtosucceedbuffalo.org/documents/30 Million Word Gap.pdf
and this one...a synopsis of the Kozol documentary on the savage inequality of schools in america..it's gross.
SAVAGE INEQUALITIES
black people and hispanic people are not being given the same opportunity to be academically successful like white kids..it's a thing.
and there's my thesis for my graduate degree. thanks. sorry i got so wordy..i have some deep passion for civil/education equality.
back to mma now.
How could it not? Society is set up this way. It makes sense to me that people resent being deprived of it.yes..it was a wall o' words. couldn't help myself. do check the links..if you get a chance. interesting findings about how education impacts a person's trajectory in life.
fuckin BINGOI get the fact that he's rich and privileged and how you can fault him for not busting his ass for 15+ mma fights before ufc signed him, but why did he have to bring skin color into the mix? "Rich privileged white kid" why not kid "rich privileged kid"?
