just listened to benji peak’s interview after the semis where he dropped 3X NCAA AA peyton robb…

these freestyle guys need to stop thinking they can just jump over and wrestle greco whenever they want… you are gonna get hurt you are going to get thrown… it is not safe…

he is 100% correct…

it is an entire different game…

I have some time kill and feel compelled to get this out before next session…

My text convo with max after his first match after telling him I’ve never felt better after a 9-0 first period tech…

Max’s body is breaking down on him now and he turned 21 in march…

Watching JB and DT doing the same thing at their age and visibly improving on recent performances…

Throw Kikinniou at 82kg Greco who is in his early-mid 40’s…

Max’s opponent Ildar mid 30’s…

Then contrast it with Blaze who is a legit 17 years old…

All that too say…

All the respect in the world to anyone competing at this level and that respect just grows to anyone who can manage the complexities of maintaining that edge for years and years…

It’s a bananas concept to think you are the best on this planet at what you do and to maintain that mentality for a real meaningful time is not even fathomable for most…

Aight…

I’m jumping off my soap box while I wait ever so patiently for next session…

Max dropped his final series 2 matches to 1... the only best 2 out of 3 of the tourney to go 3 matches...

he proved he could beat Ildar which was huge, but, still not what he wanted...

another tourney full of big highs and big lows...

best sport ever...

Alan Vera passed today…

he had a heart attack last month…

only spent a little time around the dude…

both boys liked him…

He has that pair for practice and weekday meets. But has two fancy looking pair for tournaments outside of school

Funny because he doesn't care about shoes day to day. Doesn't want anything fancy, wears until falling apart. But wrestling tournaments? Bling bling

His other pair from tournaments last year are the JB golds lol

been AWOL for a minute...

but, giggled on the shoes...

otto was so excited that the freaks came got rereleased seeing as though he has to wear nike shoes in competition now...

the boys have been rocking mat flexes for a minute somewhat ironically, but, mostly because it is a legit shoe no matter what the 8th graders think...

old school tigers are still cool, but, they don't last the boys at all... otto can destroy a pair in 2 months and when they were $280 a pop from overseas that was just not going to work... Max still rocks his old ones occasionally... the new tigers are not near as "cool" to the kids nowadays...

U23 worlds starts early monday AM...

max up first day...

has 2 senior medals this season so cautiously optimistic for a world medal this year...

they were never released in the US...

lightest shoe ever... there is nothing to them... i would buy a pair and then have to rob or buy inserts because there is less padding than an old school chuck taylor...

Otto's first pair i traded his straight from russia singlets for them when he was 14...

First tournament is Saturday. Pretty stoked. He was cleared this morning to wrestle, he's been dealing with a rotor cuff issue the last few weeks. See how it feels once he's going live

HS season isn't until December. If it feels great then he'll do 2-3 more tournaments in November. If not, we'll back off until December
