Kitchens shouldn't be dark. It'll feel bigger with grandma white walls & ceiling.

Obviously replacing that light fixture.

I'm gonna lose counterspace with my plan but it's just so tiny in there anyway.
Between stove and sink will be the dishwasher. Other side of sink will be the fridge.
Part of how I'm justifying buying new cabinets, I only have to buy a few, lol.
can you get a single drawer dishwasher and then build a covey hole above it for microwave? Or build cabinet for microwave above fridge. You aren’t going to want it taking up countertop space.

i love tiny homes!
google “single wall kitchen’ then hit images.

Also, if I ever redo my cabinets I will have pull outs.

Another cheap idea for storage is to buy an old dresser from a thrift store with deep drawers, put wheels on bottom , and put butchers block on top. Waa Laa, moveable island.

Was hoping to be able to use the cabinets but they are too gnarly and beat.
if the cabinet boxes are still decent you could just reface them for a lot less work and a little cheaper then new

If you do decide to rip them out and are looking for a inexpensive rustic option look at the Denver collection at Lowes, it's what we put in the cabin and if all you are doing is that wall it shouldn't cost you a lot, I think our kitchen layout is a little longer but we paid under 2000

The lazy susan, corner cabinet and pantry were the most expensive pieces, we were just over 400 for the pantry alone but you wouldn't need those for that stretch

Yeah, for that wall it's only gonna be 3 lowers and 3 uppers, maybe 4 if I find something I like for above the fridge.

Going to do a tall pantry cab and a bar on the opposite wall. Prob some shelves above the bar.
I was pricing cab online at lowes and they have a few lines that aren't bank breakers. I'll look at the Denver line too.

I was just going to pull all the doors and drawers and paint everything but its pretty rough. They don't seem original to 59 when the place was built, best guess is someone else's old shit from the late 70s/early 80 slapped in there in an attempt to update.
Thats 40 years, old man and his dogs were in there for the last 20.
They gotta go, I wouldn't even want them in my garage. Like disintegrating in arena, swole in others. It won't cost too much I don't think.

Hard part is going to be hunting down some more of that flooring and patching it in the corner for the fridge.

I would just rip it all up and go new, who knows what is underneath, laminate is pretty inexpensive.

It is new
One thing you could do is just cut out the laminate where the fridge is going and do a tile accent on the floor under the fridge. Also check all storage spaces, attic space etc. There is always left overs that are saved to do repairs because flooring changes constantly. Or reach out to the seller and see where they bought from and which brand. Google photos might also be able to give you a match.

Do me and NiteProwleR @NiteProwleR need to come out there and do this shit for you?

Yeah, it'll probably be OG subfloor under the cabs. Who knows how nasty.
I'll find out tomorrow when I rip that mess out and see how bad it is under there.

Thats the problem with old places. You start one simple project and it becomes 3 emergency infrastructure repairs you wish you hadn't found lol.

My 117yo Victorian was like that. Nothing was simple unless you were willing to pretend you didn't see what you saw.

Whats the outside sniffing space for young Rowdy?
Haha. He was raging out some victory laps yesterday, all fired up. Back yard is bigger but that it mostly getting sacrificed for a 3 bay garage and paved out for trailer parking.
Front yard isn't huge but will be nice when done and there will be a dog run too.

Its covered in snow now and I'm sure it'll look like shit when I can finally see it, but nothing I can't fix up.

I know it is kind of ghetto but we ripped out the old island in our kitchen and put this in its place. The lady loves it.
Just a matte black Home Depot husky workbench with a ton of drawers for spices and kitchen utensils, cutting boards, etc... It was her idea.
