I feel like if someone got captured by enemy force, director of intelligence might not be the role for him.Taliban has appointed 4 Gitmo prisoners exchanged for Bowe Bergdahl to government, some of them in very senior positions like director of intelligence.
That's definitely going to rustle some jimmies.
That's a good point.I feel like if someone got captured by enemy force, director of intelligence might not be the role for him.
That's a good point.
On the other hand, if you managed to get released by the same enemy along with four of your buddies in exchange for a random deserter, maybe you are capable of some John le Carre shit.
In all seriousness, declassified intelligence reports show that when he was deputy intelligence director, he met with US intelligence officials and offered to help them capture the head of intelligence and Mullah Omar. When he was in gitmo, he talked about how pissed off he was that he was detained when he was the one offering to sell out his leaders.
To be fair to the Taliban (never thought I'd utter that phrase) I believe this current iteration of the Taliban has basically kicked out anyone who was around pre-2001 on ideological grounds. A "kinder, gentler, more tolerant" Taliban, if you will.In all seriousness, declassified intelligence reports show that when he was deputy intelligence director, he met with US intelligence officials and offered to help them capture the head of intelligence and Mullah Omar. And the Taliban have now promoted him to be the head of intelligence. These are the people that we just lost a war to.
It is perhaps the first government ever to be based on a combination of religious extremism and blatant trolling. To be fair to the Taliban (never thought I'd utter that phrase) I believe this current iteration of the Taliban has basically kicked out anyone who was around pre-2001 on ideological grounds. America is gonna be sooooo jealous. It is perhaps the first government ever to be based on a combination of religious extremism and blatant trolling.
Is what still happening? Is this still happening or are we glad that the occupation is over* and now we're just waiting on the next big news story?
