just saw my Facebook memory for today. It happens to be today Nov 7th 2009 when I had my first deep dish before the Fedor fight in Chicago.

I picked Chicago because the poll lacks options, much like Chicago & NY style pizzas.

The 2 best slices of pizza I've ever had were a "stuffed Chicago-style pepperoni bacon family sized", and a "Family sized NY-style BBQ smoked chicken bacon pineapple".

Both from Papa Murphy's Take-and-bake.

Correct answer, Papa Murphy's.

By the slice though, you can't beat NY.
By the single small pizza, Neopolitan Mediterranean.

True story:

As a kid we went to Italy on a skiing trip. We went and had dinner at a place the hotel dude told us had good pizza.

The pizza was wack but delicious. No sauce just actual tomatoes. Toppings like truffle and eggplant and parsley. Little personal pan style pizzas.

So we get our pizzas and start eating. The whole restaurant is suddenly silent. We look around and everyone is staring at us eating with our hands. Even got a few harrumphs.

Apparently you're supposed to use a knife and fork.
I remember eating pizza with knife and fork when I was little.

Vienna is expensive as fuck. Cool cathedral though
Never been. Salzburg and Innsbruck. A beautiful country. I went there before the Euro so I don;t know how that compares. The Euro fucked everything up in that regard. So, but back to pizza...

Whatever the sweet fuck this abomination is, it needs to go back to the pits of hell with Hitler, Cthulhu, Steven Segal films, and the guy who signed Nickleback

I feel like they are two different pizzas for different occasions. NY pizza is great because it is so readily available by the slice while on the move. I also generally prefer thin slices. However the best tasting pizza I’ve ever had was the deep dish at Giordanos and Genos east in Chicago.
Valid point is valid. I worked with a guy from NY and his biggest complaint about Chicago was how it' almost impossible to find pizza by the slice.

Agreed. But this monstrosity can only be of American origin. Fist rule of American cuisine, there are no rules :)

Agreed, what people eat like here is grotesque. After living in Germany and Ukraine for 4 years, coming back to the States was nauseating for me.

Mix is right. People who are from Chicago usually eat thin crust cut into squares. Deep dish is mostly eaten by tourists and transplants. I'll get a hankering every 6 months or so, but that's far less often than I eat Chicago-style or Italian-style thin crust. Very few places sell pizza by the slice for some dumb reason but, fortunately, you can get it at 2 different places in my neighborhood.

I am still shocked on how big everything is, like the cups at Burger King, or the size of burgers. Go in a gas station real quick to get a snack on the go: everything king size. Then the pounds of lunch meat on sandwiches. It's a free for all, anything goes. That said, I think Europe is catching up quick. Look at @Song Douche that fat son of a bitch.
