Good. The University of Washington is not far from me. I saw first hand how they were harassed and threatened as they tried to go to class at a school they pay for by many people who were camping out there while not being students there. I still can't believe the cops / campus security allowed that. Much of it was recorded both by them and onlookers. The cops didn't even look at the footage.

Building a car in the U.S. doesn't avoid tariffs.
Pardon me. What?
There seems to be a lot of confusion around tariffs on both sides.
It seems that a lot of people had no idea what tariffs even were until recently.
What kind of tax do you think trumps implementing?
Your either mistaken or bullshiting.
I think you've been listening to the wrong people on this.

A car built, assembled is more accurate, in America is going to be made largely, in some cases entirely, of foreign made parts. Even the American made parts will mostly be made with foreign sourced materials. Whether they tariff the whole car at 20% or the parts individually at 20% is going to make little difference to the end purchaser.

I knew that was going to be you're retort.
Trump is not going to tarrif all the parts. No way. There may be some tarrifs on some parts but even that I find unlikely.
This is not even something we need to argue about. We can just put a bet on it if you're feeling confident.
I'm telling you now . The cost of Toyota's in America will not go up due to the tariffs.
A lot of things will Definitely go up. That's the point of the tariff. To encourage local production ( or as you correctly pointed out assembly in a lot of cases) . Toyota will not be one of the things that go up in price. ( this dosent account for some kind of black Swan event that drives up inflation) if they go up it will be due to that. Not the tariff

Didn't Trump already list what what exempt? I don't remember the list, but I vehicles/parts were not on it.

I haven't looked at that , but I don't need to.
Maybe he will make case by case exceptions. Maybe he will change things in the future.
There's absolutely zero chance he will tarrif all parts.

I dunno about that last part. Maybe if they are included in American alternatives and can't be found inside the borders. Part of his campaign is to boost American manufacturing, specially the auto industry.

Yeah . You're exactly right. It will probably be along those lines of the availability of or to make that part in the US.
I expect him to lean towards the side of being happy for companies to assemble things than a tariff on all parts at this stage. That said I'm not supprised at all that he hasn't made that exception in writing. It leaves open massive holes to be exploited and takes away his leverage.
What I expect is a case by case deal with these big companies.

I'm basing my statements on what Trump has said he's going to do, not what I think will happen.

If he doesn't tariffs parts, it's a complete waste of everyone's time.

I'm pro tariff . Especially at the stage we are at since NAFTA. I think Milton Friedmans take on tariffs was probably the stupidest thing he ever said ( although I do see where he was coming from.)
That said , I highly doubt this guy is correct. He might be correct on a few items but I dobut he's right over all.
That said , the tariff is still worth doing 100%. Especially if it leads to tax cuts and dosent get shut down in 4 years. The tariffs will help the economy way more than hurt it.

One of the problems I see with libitarians like myself is they just can't compute the fact that the Austrians may be wrong on some things. It just shatters all their fundamental beliefs. It really fucked up and culty.
They can't seem to see there's a difference between the tariffs the civil war was fought over and what's being proposed. It's an either or to them.
The problem with the tariffs in the antibellum was they were specifically designed to hurt the south.
It was completely fucked.

No.
You have it backwards. If he tariffed all parts it would completely disincentiveise all countries from manufacturing in the US.
He will use this to make deals to bring more jobs to America.
It would have the opposite effect.
He's not doing this just for the money, he's doing it for the job's

That's the point of a tariff. To have homegrown manufacturing from A-Z, encourage self reliance. Not to let a foreign entity take your nation's money out of the country.

He's not doing this just for the money, he's doing it for the job's
He's talked about it at length. He's doing it for the money because he thinks tariffs will provide the government's revenue when he eliminates the income tax. His income tax scheme doesn't work without massive revenue from tariffs. Using your Toyota example. Them building their 3 models that they don't already build in America will produce 15k jobs at the absolute high end which in the grand scheme is fuck all.

Serious question. Are you one of these retarded leftists? Because that's how you come across sometimes.

You're right .it's only 15 k jobs. But it's still 15k jobs.
I don't give a fuck how much you bang on about it , he's not going to tariff every part.
Think about it. If he did that why would they be expanding their north American manufacturing. It wouldn't benefit them fuck all.
He's going to make deals with these companies.
We don't have to argue about it we can just make a bet.

Make the bet then.

You try and come across like your a genius and you're wrong all the time.
Read what your writing. There's no logic there. Your shit dosent make sence.
It's been 8 years of trump in politics and your making the case that he should be taken word for word literally even if it completely contradicts what he's trying to achieve.
That's the dumbest take anyone could possibly make.
I've heard retarded leftists make more sence than you.

On top of this being incredibly stupid, babbling nonsense. The astonishing amount of spelling errors and grammatical mistakes in the post are really the chef's kiss on a post where you're accusing someone else of being stupid. Between this, and your claims that your entire school experience was just about the Holocaust. You're really painting quite the picture for us of your educational background.
