Most commissions have automatic time based suspensions after TKO or KO, and the ringside physician can suspend someone for a set time if they feel they took significant damage. If they are suspended for a particular injury, that can be terminated by getting cleared by another MD.

Getting choked unconscious is actually safe as long as the choke is not held too long after you go out. I go right back to training after getting choked out, the rare occasions I got my bell rung I would take time off.

GSP rocked him then bounced his head off the ground about 20 times before the choke. I’m no doctor, but stepping right back into the cage doesn’t seem very smart.
