You're confusing socialism with communism. In practise they end up being similar but in theory they're quite different; communism puts production and resources under control of the state whereas socialism puts in the hands of the people equally.
So a Marxist is different to a communist in philosophy. Corbyn is neither, he's a social democrat. The huge difference between social democracies and socialist states is government elections. Think of Sweden vs China (not really but as close as I could think of. Maybe Cuba?)
