Huge Fedor fan as many of you may know. The past few years I've spent quite a bit of time comparing his accomplishemnts to others.

I can't think of any fighter in the history of fighting, who can do what Fedor did, to who he did it to.

What has GSP done to make him Greater than Fedor? Beat top guys at 170 while Fedor beat top guys at hw?
Same goes for Anderson.

I can never figure out why smaller guys get more credit for fighting other small guys. It's like, imagine the demolition we would've seen if Fedor fought guys his size or smaller.

I can think of an Olympic silver medalist middleweight
who's greater. He proved it by outstriking and outgrappling Fedor.

I think its because Fedor lost 3x times in a row to Werdum, Hendo and then Bigfoot Silva.

Also Pride was tailored towards strikers what Fedor was really good at. The difference between a ring and cage is quite a big deal. Such as Cro Cop that was great in the ring but when he got to the cage where grappling is more of a factor he wasn't as great.

I think Fedor was a really good fighter but I think he wouldnt do as well in the cage. I think he would have ended up like Cro-cop. UFC has shown how important a strong wrestling base is.

Even though i dont care for the p4p list as its too much theory and i believe simply being champion is the most important attribute you can have, I have GSP as #1 on the p4p. I thought WW was the most dominant division in mma for a long time and he dismantled his opponents. He hasnt lost a round in years for a period.

I see OPs point but I also feel Fedor is the genuine GOAT so maybe I'm biased. The three loses in a row are not a good way to taper down your career but weighed against all he accomplished it still makes him the GOAT IMO.

We all know his fighting resume so I'm not going to quote his record but he did much more then just win fights. When he fought it was always a show of some sort, like a mystical creature with another challenge and we all wanted to see how it would happen. He brought such a calm yet intense aura into the ring and he just had that IT factor.

On top of that he was so respectful and mild mannered outside the fights. Hes was not one for the lowbrow trash talking (not that trash talk is all bad but most is a desperate attempt to sell a fight) or trying to call out others with some shitty line or two.

I really think the whole P4P talk is fantasy land talk. Everybody has their own little list of what it takes to make the cut and IF I was to play along then that's where I see GSP taking and edge. I say that because in my p4p list a big factor is who they have fought and I feel the WW division in the UFC has always been deep and GSP owned it.

I will never understand how if a 225 lb heavyweight loses to a 280lb roided out bigfoot and now was never any good. Yet Gsp talks catchweight to fight Anderson and Anderson is praised for moving up 20 lbs to fight Forest, Bonnar, and Irvin. If Dillashaw were to fight Lombard and lose would he be considered overrated?

Great points. Fedor was usually the smaller guy and he still dominated for years. I doubt we will see another guy like him in our life time.

So lucky to see him fight live 4 times but will always regret not flying to japan to watch him and Wandy in Pride.

TQN-You're the only one who has hinted at naming someone not named Fedor.

You're obviously talking about Dan Henderson.

Tell me, in your opinion(unfortunately is biased but I got mad respect for Hendo so I'll engage), what has Hendo done in his career to make him greater than Fedor?

If Aldo beats Conor he will be on a 10 year, 19 fight win streak. Only 1 fight in that streak was even close, against Mendes, but Jose clearly won it(minus the Conor fight, obviously). 9 finishes in that streak, so currently 50% of the fights in his streak he has finished. Assuming he beats Conor, he will have beat the best each discipline has to offer, the best grapplers and strikers. Never been in real trouble, the closest he has come to trouble is a flash knockdown against Mendes, but he literally bounced back to his feet and came back stronger than ever.

I think he's referring to the Lindland fight in Bodog.....since the best Dan's done at the Olympics was 10th in '92, Lindland got the Silver in 2000.

And as you can see.....no rope grab, just placed his hand on top of it....right before the sweeeet reversal on said silver medalist

Oh and ouch.........

i wouldn't think TQN would use a fighter Fedor finished in the first few minutes as an example of being greater. Hell, even if Lindland won that fight, how would he still be considered greater?

Pride fixed fights. Fedor juiced just like everyone else in pride. Fedor spent more time on his back in his fight against Bigfoot Silva than GSP has his entire career.
You could argue that Cain Velasquez would run through any of Fedors competition past present or prime.

Some of the fights were fixed, would be a strange way to organize a fix in almost all of Fedors wins though.

Speculation

If GSP fought a monster juiced to the gills 230lb blackbelt you would have a better point there.

Sure you could, you also could argue Fedor with the raw talent and skill he has dropped into the MMA landscape at the same time as Cain, with the same schedule, would run through his competition as well.

UFC Fixed fights. GSP and Cain Juiced like everyone else. Cain was dropped more times against Kongo that Fedor in his entire career. You could argue that Rory Macdonald would run through any of GSP's competition past present or prime.

I agree for the most part. I definitely think Fedor juiced in Pride and probably the Bodog show. I have no problem with that BTW. It wasn't against the rules and
his opponents were probably juiced too.

I think he was clean for his 4 fights in Strikeforce and that'd why he had such a poor showing. I don't think a cage had anything to do with it

Hahaha.......This guy has a point about everybody in pride juicing.....it's a shame Fedor never competed in the UFC where everyone is clean. :22:
