Added some pressure gauges to my filtration system. Pre filter and post filter.
We have a massive drop in water pressure when the filters get super dirty. It takes a while, but eventually the pump gets a low pressure reading and fires up, getting the pressure back to normal until it slowly goes down to nothing again.
My theory is that the dirty filter is acting as a check valve, and the water before the filter is reading a solid PSI while the pressure behind the filter to the fixtures is much lower.
So to stay ahead of it, I added a pressure gauge before the filter and another after it. I plan to monitor it so I know what water pressure difference is a good time to change the filters BEFORE the drop in pressure is annoying.
I'm trying to avoid the phone calls from the wife saying "We have zero water pressure".
Because those days are bad days.

I also moved it up a few inches because the dipshit who originally put it in did it with shitty fasteners that came loose. I upgraded with TapCons.

Are tapcons like sharkbites?
Tapcons are concrete screws. I never use anything else when fastening to concrete, mortar or brick.
I did use sharkbite fittings for the gauges. Original pupingg was installed with PEX. I've used them before - I was skeptical at first but haven't had any issues at all.

I've used tapcons a few thousand times.
Later next week I have to use sharkbites on my blown pipe going to the outdoor bib.
The fools that did the plumbing used redpipe to "cut costs".

Sharkbites are a miracle. You can spin them after they are installed. You can remove them. Reuse them. Plastic parts scare me so I'm hesitant to bury them in walls - but around here they do it all the time in new construction.
They take what can be an all day job with traditional copper line and fittings and turn it into 30 minutes.
When I get the opportunity and there's a lot going on in the walls I just build makeshift access hatches.
I feel the same way about burying them.
If I'm flipping a house I have no problem With it.

while I was taking care of wife’s car, son sanded deck with 120 then 220 grit. Swept it off & applied 2 layers of transparent waterproof sealer.
Wife’s car got engine, transmission oil changed, cabin air filter (have to remove glovebox & take 1/2 the dash apart to do that stupid job) & tires rotated.
also took samples for oil analysis

How much does analysis cost?
These were around $35/ea but included postage. If doing multiple samples, it’s better to buy without postage & just send back in one container
I’ve seen the Napa & Wix analysis kits on sale for around $15/ea before but that’s been a while.
If you have a local Cummins dealer (commercial) they also offer the same service
I took my son and his friend to the range and turned them loose to play 9 holes by themselves. Was able to watch the last hole and took this pic. My son has his back to the camera. It’s probably the last time they will be able to hang out because we’re moving next week. 
That’s a great day. For the record, I fucking hate plumbing. I can do carpentry work, drywall, concrete…but I despise plumbing.
