Seeing the first roots from the 2 cuts in my homemade, ghetto "bubble-cloner" after 10 days.
Cuts from the same Kush x Blueberry mom took 16 and 17 days respectively to push roots out of a jiffy pod, so this method looks like an improvement. A 2 for 2 rooting ratio is a small sample size, but still encouraging.
I find it's too easy to dry out the fragile little clones when they are in jiffy pods. Alternatively, if there is too much moisture the fucking fungus gnats breed like crazy, so a hydroponically based cloner seems like a win/win.
For anyone interested, I just took a 2 liter plastic storage bin from wally world and drilled a few 3/4" holes in the lid, fed two airlines through one of the holes and hooked up two airstones, filled the container with tap water to within an inch and a half of the top, plugged in the air pump and dropped a couple cuts in the other holes.
The airstones keep the water fully oxygenated and the bubbles popping at the surface keep the air in the container saturated with moisture.
I put the main container inside a second, transparent one, so I can see and contain any leaks and used little pieces of closed cell foam with notches cut into them to hold up the clones.

I'm just passing the 2 week mark in the curing process of an Original Skunk #1 and a Northern Lights x Blueberry. The flavour hasn't fully developed yet, but the smoothness and the effect are getting 2 thumbs up. I wasn't sure what to expect from the Skunk, but it's a nice sativa. Not super strong, but a good daytime happy high.
The NB I've run a few clones of, and this is the last of this plant. It's a really good indica stone, but it's not the best pheno this strain has to offer. I'm looking forward to when I get a chance to pop a few more seeds, but there's lots of other genetics to try first.
