You're American though.

Yes I am, a proud Iranian American who is at time super proud of what we do in the states and at times super ashamed as well.

At the end of the day, I look at things as a member of the human race, nationalism is horrible, be it an American overzealous nationalist or someone in Iran who is the same.

I think we all have to be honest with ourselves and with the reality of what is really going on

I find it peculiar, most of my Persian friends from Sweden claim an Iranian identity, yet my friends in Bangkok try to distance themselves. Could be a generational thing. I consider myself stateless. I speak many languages and have friends from all over the place, Lord knows I'd never serve Sweden again though. America with all it's faults is probably the greatest country for individuals though.

And in this world that's what we've got to focus on. I just hope Iran doesn't get fucked like most prior examples. Ghadaffi brought fresh water to my uncle's village and so called leftists were celebrating that he died in a horrible manner. There's no black or white and most people have a hard time seeing the elephant.

Exactly, there is no black and white, people that western media says is the bad guy is actually almost every time not the bad guy.

what is revealing is how many of us here in the west don;t hold our own government accountable for shady stuff. Such as teaching Iraq how to use chemical weapons to murder innocents. War is war but there is never justification for chemical warfare, yet the USA is the biggest creator of chemical weapons.

Dude, there's always justification for the horrors of war. Might not be morally just in your eyes but it can be. Chemical weapons were not meant to be used against the Iranians but as a deterrent for the Kurds. And now they're in bed, realpolitik my friend.

No, there is never ever any justification for chemical warfare. Never should have been used against the Kurds, those poor people deserve that tiny bit of land they always had on the Iran Iraq border, even if they don't, you dont gas em out. Saddam murdered so many innocent Iranians and even his own people, and the US directly and on purpose created those chemical weapons, it dont get any dirtier than that.

Its insane that we bitch about other countries when we do the most evil shit in the world.

amazing animal
North Korea is one of the last environmental bastions in Asia. They have tigers and cranes and shit that don't exist anywhere else anymore. It just kills me that he detonation hazardous material in those mountains. I wish we could zap some of those people (the governmental villians) off instead and keep that land.

I don't do politics but thought SensoriaUtopia @SensoriaUtopia would like this.

That all began when the US joined WWI. These little statistics always take things out of historical context, made for a witty post on instagram.
Look up the British, for example, they may have an even a bigger list. Not saying the US is innocent, I'd just would like to see at least some context.

Iran hasn't attacked because they can't. They're eye-balling Bahrain, just as they took Abu Musa and the Tunb islands belonging to the UAE in 1970. Add to this their wishes to wipe Israel off the map. Let's not start a cuddle project here. I feel for the people inside of Iran, that want to live modern life, in peace, but Iran as a state, is out for blood.

Yet in the last what 100 plus years the only country Iran had an actual war with was Iraq, ever heard of Saddam Hussein, we also did not do anything pre emptive, Saddam went and attacked Iran, over a stupid fucking river and a non large piece of land, so Iran rightfully defended themselves and beat Saddam, but was such a horrible war, the amount of people dead on both sides would make any decent person's heart feel sorrow easy to surmise.

To the rest of the forum,

So stuck in this region, this firecracker called the middle east, all these years, and only having a war wtih the evil Saddam Hussein. Also, pains me as an American to say, the US taught Iraq's scientists how to make chemical weapons, to kill Iranians.

Just like torture is renounced world wide, especially by 1st world countries, using chemical weapons is also renounced world wide, especially by 1st world countries.

When we see it happen, we rightfully condemn, our President's and other High government frowns upon it and speaks against it Yet we did it to Iran, while they where fighting the real bad guy, Saddam, step back and think about that.

So at the end of the day, Iran's only war in who knows how long was against Saddam, who any sane person would say is the bad guy. The bad guy that the US helped.

I still think we are the good guys in many ways, but we need to be honest about everything, that is when the world moves forward. Declare
