Because trump's delegates TRUMPED democrat delegates, combined. On top of that, I m an independent, so people like me didn't even have the chance to vote trump (or insert democrat dipshit name here), so that number would be higher. Perhaps only counties that can count votes are reporting at this point, so trump may stay at 172, but that said, not a bad starting point. Democrats still can t count who won iowa, so this may be a 10 year process, but out of 415 delegates, with only 50% of votes in, trump has 172. 172.

There are 172 Republican delegates in California and 415 Democratic delegates. All the Republican delegates have been declared while only 108/415 Democratic delegates have been declared.
