crowded places like NYC is where virus thrives, like China and S.Korea
Yeah sod NY public transport right now.
I'm surprised Apple haven't done anything about asking people to WFH. I don't like husband going into the office every day in Sunnyvale, it's a gigantic office.

I work for a large org in nyc and they have already told us, if the people we serve are worried about coronavirus, we'll work with them remotely. But all staff are required to come to work. Fear of coronavirus will not get you approved to work from home. Cheers.

My main thought is that Twitter have told everyone to work from home and Silicon Valley with the China connection.

It took Apple a long time to say to employees that if they'd just travelled back from the China plants/offices to not go into the US offices. Ya think?

corporation. they don't want to lose money.

tell your husband to go to work and start coughing and sniffling non-stop. pretty sure it'll buy him a WFH ticket

Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Fred Hutch have implemented a WFH policy through March in the Seattle area. There is basically no traffic through downtown. Restaurants and stores have been closing early because there are no customers. Grocery stores are running out of eggs. They have apparently addressed the supply issues with bananas following the Snowpocalypse experience.

Haha, he was sent home a couple of weeks ago with a cold, when he works from home he gets more work done than when he's in the office but it just doesn't seem like they're taking it as a legit threat like Twitter are.

He's a carrier of all sorts of stuff and a cold rarely lasts more than a day. if he catches it he's so healthy. If he catches it I'm buggered for a couple of weeks.

This disease was invented by the Chinese government in order to get us all to WFH thus creating VPN connections from our home networks to our corporate networks. They have already infiltrated our home routers and will use this to steal our corporate data in an attempt to leapfrog us in the trade war.

some tweets are just plain propaganda.
like this tweet is from Surgeon General saying mask doesn't help with preventing the virus.
what a crock of shit, if people could catch the virus by the virus entering into your mouth, that means the mask helps.

I'm a flippin dullard for believing everything ABC News are shoving down my throat. They're saying that the virus particles are so tiny that wearing a mask is useless because it will still get through. I'm not buying masks, but I'm not buying that it isn't going to reduce the risk either.

Don't go to Lion Market on Tully Road, it was depressing as hell last week, I can imagine it being even worse this week. So many people in masks.

One of my favourite stores, I feel a bit lost just going to Safeway.

It's a bad tweet but well patients wearing mask is not only a bad use of resources, usually it just spreads disease as people touch their face more often. This is well studied and is why we suggest mask for sick people but not well people. exceptions to this rule would be if you're stuck being right next to a sick person for a while. Like maybe a sick person in your house that you're tending to or being stuck on transport with somebody who is sick and not wearing a mask. But the answer there is the sick person should be wearing the mask.

Virus particle size is not the main thing for wearing a mask.
sick people can wear a regular surgical mask and reduce the spread of disease even though the virus is very small. That mask is not significant but what it does is stop respiratory droplets from going far away when that person is coughing or sneezing.

A person that is well starts wearing a mask and their breath will wet that mask inside of an hour. They will adjust that mask. if they have a sick person's respiratory droplets on them that mask will transmit the virus easily.

Mask are very important for sick people to wear. We really should be doing this all the time in this country but it's not quite there culturally.

This is what I've been saying all along. But I guess it means more coming from you because you're a doctor and I'm just some idiot on an mma forum who doesn't have a yacht.

What are the guidelines with disposing of them after use?

I used to work for a gigantic Chinese IT company here, I would be having fits going into the office every day considering 50% of the people working there were back and forth to China every month or so.

So far, Alibaba has not announced any office closures... Their office is just outside of Kirkland where all the old people died. In fact, there hasn't been a word out of them. Maybe they all died weeks ago...

Dont count on the government to keep you healthy.
