They are using the diamond strategy on you

My favorite bottle right now is 4 Rose's. Not sure if it's a true bourbon but its blended. Around 30 or so but I dont spend alot of drinks. My dumbass friends cant tell the difference between jack Daniel's and Angel's envy. I used to work at a bourbon bar so I'm slightly better than average
I like the Four Roses Single Barrel. Bourbon used to be the inexpensive whiskey to drink if you couldn't afford scotch. Bourbon prices have gone way up over the last 5-10 years. It is way more popular here too.

All of these hard to find bottles we were talking about above (Weller, Blanton's, Eagle Rare, etc), about a decade or so ago used to be stocked full on the shelves all over town. Nobody was really buying it. I can remember going in and buying bottles of Blanton's that were caked in dust they'd been on the shelf so long. Now you almost have to cut off a pinky to get a bottle.

I've been along for the whole ride

That is the greatest bourbon bottle I've ever seen.
You should definitely buy a bottle then ?

it was actually pretty decent, and quite a bit better than I expected. This is no Proper 12. I killed the bottle, so whatever that tells ya! Proper 12 is proper shit that I wouldn’t tell anyone to buy. This is worth trying, even if it’s only once.

I read some reviews, and I generally agreed with the flavor notes they described. It was definitely unique to what I normally drink, and I mean that with positivity.

If I come across it I'll pickup a bottle.

That’s unfortunate. They don’t have the biggest selection around here, but their prices are good.
It has to do with government regulations. The same reason it's around 60 bucks a bottle is the same reason we only have a handful of outlets.

Is it legal to ship across the north border? I’ll gladly ship you a bottle ?
I honestly have no idea. I thought it was, or at the very least some taxes had to get paid on it. But last year my Secret Santa sent me a 40oz of Knob Creek and that made it across without issue, lol.

Well, if you ever want to test the waters, I’m game ?

I imagine there may be a number of things I can find that you don’t have available up there. Texas is a big whiskey state, we have quite a bit available.

I've been trying to get my wife to move there for about 4 years now.

I've been eyeing real estate in Alpine for quite some time now.
The Alpine/Marfa are is pretty cool. And Big Bend (to the south) is incredible.
The I-10 corridor to the north is brutally barren though. I hate having to drive I-10 to get out of the state. It’s 9-10 hours of literally flat nothing.

They create a fake demand to justify ridiculous prices. Greasy.

Eagle rare is $65 a bottle here, thought it was kept in a back room and limited to 1 per costumer. Buffalo trace, who distills eagle rare limits how often they distribute
Where is "here" again?

I may know a guy...

It's good for sure, but to be honest I think I would save myself $20 and just get a bottle of buffalo trace or spend an extra $20-$30 and get something high end
Buffalo Trace is good. That's forgetting that it's $40 a bottle.

Just saying that I don't think eagle rare is worth $25 more. Buffalo trace makes them both.

Now I'd love to get my hands on eagle rare 17 year bourbon

Back in the day before bourbon was cool, Eagle was a $28 dollar bottle here. It was terrific quality at that price point compared to what else was available in that range.

I’d also love to get my hands on the 17. Some day hopefully!
