I never did that, but i used to swing on some sketchy vines. Had a few that didn’t hold, but really lucky i didn’t get seriously hurt.

Kill rate in Ohio has been about 100%. There aren't many left.

So they are already in Texas but they have a federal quarantine in place. Basically it means a ban on transporting firewood across county lines - largely ineffective when they did that in Ohio.
Edit: Just looked it up. They've been detected in Denton County - North Dallas. So the quarantine failed.
Ash trees used to be everywhere in Ohio. Now the woods look like this:
I've cut down 100+ dead ash trees over the last 6 or 7 years.

Just picked up a truck bed full of live oak firewood from a buddies property. Supply replenished ?
of course it’s going to be 70 this week hah, but I feel better having my firewood rack full again. I should have had it more full to begin with. February is usually when we see the worst of winter weather. It’s not usually this crazy, but I should have known better and had more on hand.

Most power has been restored, but not fully. And certain places are still in and out. Same with water - it’s better for many, but lots still without. Ours is back to about 70% pressure. And we’re still having to boil for drinking
weather is a lot warmer today so it’s at least not as cold anymore for those without heat.
It’s onward and upward from here. 55 degrees here in Dallas/Fort Worth and I’m about to go for a run.

Maple is a lot better choice for many reasons. Sounds better, durability and simply a denser wood so applying finish is an easier process.
