Oh, so y'all are horrible card players that cheat. That makes sense.
No I don't play with bots. It destorys the game

There is battle of people who care about the game vs those
who just want a quick buck gooing on.

Lots of lawsuits and social media outings etc...

Fedor Kruse just got busted for runnijng a solver so its
even spreading to the live scene

They caught his ass though

When I say "live" I mean people sitting around a table.
So do I. Its very risky but there is a certain segment of live players
running solvers with bluetooth and some slick devices.

Kruse and his cohorts tried a much more intricant hustle
with solvers though

Ultimately I don't think it will fly.

Mike Postle got dealt with pretty swiftly (Same tech allows for live solver use)

Had a long discussion with Brad Wilson about if I should switch my game to PLO
but he says there is atleast 5 years left of good online games before
it destoys itself and to slowly make the switch but not be alarmed

Also the casinos could get their shit together and crack down and save the online games

I have zero faith in them doing the right thing though

Phil Gafound with GG Poker is leading the way. No HUDS/Bots
or anything allowed on his sites and they ban you quick and fast if caught

Yes... All it takes to rig the game so certain players can run a solver
Is for the casino and game operators to be willing to take a pay out from
the guys cheating.

Much more difficult but Kruse and his crew tried exactly that
(At least that is the rumors in circles)
In any case, it's not unreasonable for me to say that what you're saying makes online games harder doesn't translate to live games. People been trying to cheat at cards since literally forever.

You focused on the cheating instead of everything else that was said.

The reason online got so hard so fast is a multitude of reasons.

1. Was that you can play thousands of hands on a trainer and get
a years worh of Live play hands in essemtially a couple weeks online.

2. Tracking software: The ability to have a database to go over and study
every hand you have ever played improved online player skill exponentially
It allowed players to pull up there last 200K hands and go over every single mistake they made.

You simply cant do that live... unless you have a court reporter
tracking your every hand every time you play. LOL

3. HUDS: The invention of HUDS taught online players the math and precision of
exploitative play... Takes years to learn those concepts in a Live game but with an
online HUD its right in your face.

ie " Villain is 3betting XYZ percent from the BTN therefore Villains range
is to wide and has a leak"

Big Blind is folding XYZ% therefore BB is too tight and has a leak.

All stuff that takes thousands of hours to learn at a Live table.

Online... a 17 year old with a trainer becomes a master at it in within a week

HUDs I don't consider cheating as long as its known that a site accepts HUDs
Now if you playagainst opponents who arent using a HUD then thats kinda cheating.

Anyway it all went down hill when the solvers and computer speeds went through the roof
Then came the bots...

Hopefully GG Poker and the Pros like Phil Gafound will continue cleaning up and saving
the online game but if not...

The Pros maintain there is no need to panic and tell me there
is plenty of time to switch to live and online PLO within the next
5 years.

PLO and Tournament online play hasn't been invaded like Holdem... yet

Anyway good discussion

Sitting in front of another person. Who you know nothing about. With adrenaline pumping, can not be replicated through online play. I'm not suggesting the experience isn't valuable, but it isn't the same.

Unless you're a call box, you're only going to actually play a couple hands per hour.

3. HUDS: The invention of HUDS taught online players the mathe and precision of
exploitative play... Takes years to learn those concepts in a Live game but with an

HUDs are great online tools, but again, can't be taken with you to the live table.

I appreciate that you're playing PLO, what a fucking wild ass game that is.

I completely agree. The expeirience isnt the same but extremely valuable.
You learn all the math and ins and outs of exploitative play in record time.
Only takes a couple months of live games to transfer that skill and you are
so far ahead of the recs its not even fair.

Remember Tom Dwan? Little fucker had played online for like 2 years
and stepped into Live and was giving Daniel Negreaneu and Ivey fits...

Daniel and Ivey both incorporate online play now. They weren't about to let
that shit happen again. Caught them off guard. lol

Ivey ripped his ass back eventually though. LOL

"HUDs are great online tools, but again, can't be taken with you to the live table."

Correct yes.. but the math and concepts don't change and once you
know how to exploit a HUD stat you just adjust to the tell of that stat in
a live game.

One of the things that allowed Tom to catch the live pros off guard
They werent expecting a 22 year old kid with 2 years experience to
know all those spots and correct EV play.

"Unless you're a call box, you're only going to actually play a couple hands per hour."

So true!

Now imagine that most online Pros are playing on 3-4 monitors with
10-15 tables open at once. Playing 8,000 hands in a single night is nothing
special to them.

Would take a long long long ass time to get that many hands in live

Then to add insult to injury they have a databse and record of every
hand... and can go back and examine and correct every mistake.

"I appreciate that you're playing PLO, what a fucking wild ass game that is."

PLO is a mutherfucker. The variance is just insane.

I'll continue to learn though and once covid breaks I'm going to take my coaches
advice and start a mix of 30% Live play to 70% online and prepare myself
for the move if dooms day every happens...

Great talk!

I remember Tom Dwan well as he was THE preeminent online player when I was balls deep. You're glossing over how many WSOP bracelets has. Especially compared to Daniel and Phil (Not even just Ivey, feel free to pick any Phil, lol)

I was just starting to get into it when Black Friday happened. That was the end of online poker for a long time.

WOW. That is literally the same as me.

My Trading/Hedgefund mentor was a Pro Poker player on the side. (won some big Canadian tournaments)
I asked him what was the best way to get really good at Poker really fast.

he said play online... and then switch to live when you can for longevity.
I signed up for online accounts jumped through all their BS hoops and literally
26 days later Black Friday hit.

I quit for years.... Until 2 years ago when I decided its now or
never to chase this dream.

Bro that's so funny you would mention that, i've just started watching Season 11 with Chuck and Tito as coaches and I cannot understand the hate for Tito, such a good coach that actually cares for his team to the point where he gives them everything of himself. I think the hate for Tito is just a bunch of casuals who never understood how the sport started on a grassroots level. He seems very levelheaded and passionate about teaching.

Season 10 is btw the season that made me the most angry, I wont spoil it for you, but you'll catch my drift when you see it.

This forum should have a TUF thread for notes on the seasons.
They don’t have season 10 on ESPN plus yet, but I’ll watch it when they do. If your referring to Rampage being the worst coach ever, I’m well aware.

Season 5 ? ? ?

I love season ten. Gave me my favorite fight ever. Rampage having a Rampage on an innocent bystander !

Yeah Rampage is pretty trash as a coach, but I'm mostly referring to all the high school drama thats on that show, people like Wes Sims (who looks surprisingly and acts like my older brother), James McSweeney, Abe Wagner is like a bunch of highschool teenage girls who came to a reality show to cause drama. The bullying of Zach Jensen and telling Matt Mitrione that he's not a real fighter because of his head injury where even Dana goes along and says hes faking it. I was boiling in rage through that whole season.

Dana White is so smart he basically forshadowed that Mitrione would never succumb to anything and doesn't have a fighters mentality.. Couple years later he beats friggin Fedor, literally the goat of the sport...

I love me some Meathead. When he was training here, he invited me to watch an open mat but I was too much of a pussy to go. He’s a good dude. I’ve talked to him on Instagram. He just renovated his whole house. I didn’t like him when I watched the season, I was cheering for McSweeny, or as I called him, McSwoony.

And don’t forget how Rampage bullied Darrill Schoonover, calling him “Titties” constantly. Poor, sweet Marcus Jones felt so bad calling him that when he quoted Rampage.

I can’t remember the other seasons as well as I remember season ten… it was the first one I watched, so that might be why.

Years later though, Rampage himself became titties ;) In that Fedor fight. Karma always finds a way.

Matt's personality might seem a little off, but he's a good dude, people were kinda going after him because of that.
