Did you fish with nets or rod and reel?
All 3. I've worked on gillnetters, trawlers, long liners and seins.
Growing up we did a lot of jigging and rod reel. Salmon season you'd catch fish casting right of the pier.
@Sex Chicken this boat was set up for long lining, gill netting and trawling. Fished on it during my teen years. Owned by an old finish guy that passed away, years ago now. Boat was a Cadillac compared to the rest of the vessels in harbour. Old guy was a tough son of a bitch.

Have a week's paid vacation. Wife still working so I'm finna do some fishing when not taking care of errands. I'll be going for peacock bass today, an introduced game fish that has been dubbed a "smallmouth on steroids" because of how hard it fights.

State record for a peacock is 9 lbs. How big do smallmouth get?
I think 10 lbs.
I thought peecocks were way bigger. Or maybe they are just smaller in Florida.

The IGFA world record is over 12 lbs and was caught in Venezuela, but 13/16 world records have been caught in Florida waters.

That's a great place to find them. Fish the lake out front on sample by the covert pipe. The lakes in the back have them too. Use a rapala or small ciclids
