There are a lot of double standards with our treatment of Islam, though, because it's a religion (generally speaking) made up of non-white people. It's very easy to get branded a racist/bigot for speaking out against it, whereas the Catholic church has always been fair game.
Here in Canada, I think there is a genuine resentment that builds from Muslims coming in and trying to change our established laws and customs. We've had Muslim university students demand that women cannot work with them or in their groups, Muslims going into martial arts dojos and demanding that women train on the other side of the gym, demanding Islamic praying stations build into schools (which are supposed to be non-denominational to the point where you can't even put up a Christmas tree), demanding their faces be concealed in situations where you're not allowed to conceal your face, ect. People start viewing it as invasive, instead of just multiculturalism.
