But who were they? Chumps beside Holloway , mendes and poirer and Holloway wasn't even as good as he is now when they fought. I think conor is one of the best easy in his division but I don't think he is as highly touted as he and Dana portray him to be. I love the fighting style and prowess he brings into the octogon but I just am not the biggest fan because his antics .
The point is he destroyed them all, including Holloway on one leg. That should point to his level if people are thinking objectively.

But they're not because apparently you either have to love Conor or hate him. There's no middle ground unfortunately.

Anyone who thinks this is an easy night for Aldo is in for a rude awakening.

Conor's legit. He's fast, strong, skilled, athletic, and he can take a punch. Most importantly, he sets a blistering pace on the feet. Aldo has had stamina issues in the past, we'll see how he does here. It's a different ball game when you have a nut like McGregor in front of you, constantly taunting you and pressing forward. It's the Nick Diaz effect, guys get flustered and burn themselves out.

I like that . Diaz definitely deserves the honor of that position. Many have taunted before Diaz and during but none did it like him. One of my favorite fighters easy .

Edgar fight? It was back and forth and he landed a superman punch off the fence at the end of the fight even though he was tired as shit to me that was entertaining as hell and very technical I guess it wasn't a war by yours and Tom O'Bedlam @Tom O'Bedlam standards but it was def entertaining for fans who appreciate all facets off MMA and aren't just in it for the drag out wars (not saying that you are) I bet next youre gunna say mighty mouse is boring
I never said anything about that fight or about the wars Aldo has been in.

Personally I think whether you are in wars or not, MMA is hard on the body. After enough time in the sport the signs of aging seem to increase dramatically for everyone.

Ops sorry I meant to tag Clappin'Daddys @Clappin'Daddys about the wars things . but yeah I agree training camps are hard on the body and the affects catch up to everyone eventually

I think Conor is faster. Maybe not as fluid with the combinations but when it comes down to it, if both fighters threw at the same time, I think Conor would land first.

Whats more rediculous?

The claim that Conor will KO/TKO Aldo when the fact is since the beginning of his career (aside from his two sub losses early on and the Holloway fight where he tore his ACL and still managed to get the nod) every fight that he's fought and won he's KO'd or TKO'd his opponent within 2 rounds?

OR

The claim that Jose will KO/TKO Conor when besides the singular case of his first encounter with Chad Mendes he hasn't finished an opponent in half a decade?

Anoint yourselves to reality and turn the fanboi dial down. This fight is much harder for Aldo to win than most want to admit. Maybe I'm wrong about Aldo losing but if I am I guarantee you it's a battle to the death and most likely as controversial as Jones/Gus was where the encumbancy effect comes to his aid.

Is Conor faster than Aldo? I would say Aldo is faster. Even Mendes seemed slightly quicker than Conor imo
I really have no idea, they are both fast. I think it's a combination of Aldo's age and the UFC hype that leads people to say this. I see him as more of a rangy striker than a super fast one personally.

I hope its a good fight. I'm rooting for Aldo personally.

I think it's his movement. Conor moves around like a feather and is super accurate. People get confused and think it's all speed.

In terms of handspeed, Jose is probably quicker. Which would make sense as he is the smaller fighter

Aldo's a better all around mixed martial artist. Conor has a height advantage, and he can knock you out if you stand in front of him and allow him to tee off, but unlike Porier and Brandao, Aldo isn't chinny and prone to getting caught early in his fights. Mendes was never actually knocked out, just dropped by a good shot after completely gassing. He would've survived until the end of the round if the ref hadn't overreacted, but for all intensive purposes, Mendes was done. As far as McGregor fighting with only 20% of his ACL in tact, don't believe everything you read, especially if the source is Conor himself. It was well known that Conor had suffered some sort of knee injury, but nobody really knows the extent of those injuries outside of those closest to McGregor.

He didn't fight with 20% of an ACL. They have always maintained that it was fully healed by 2 weeks out, but it hampered their training.

It's not even just the taunting. Having someone constantly in your face, constantly making you react, is mentally tiring. There aren't the normal breaks or lulls you get with most other fighters. Nick Diaz and Frankie Edgar created a new metagame within MMA striking, which is about consistent output, and Conor takes that to the next level. One thing that that makes him stand out from those two, in terms of striking, is his legit power in his hands. Conor has soul crushing power when he hits guys, you can see it in their eyes and actions after taking a shot. Robbie Lawler has that same kind of power. GGG has that same kind of power.

Conor's timing makes him seem super fast, but I would say Aldo has the faster handspeed as well.

Do you know what I'm sick of? Breaking down how Conor beats Jose.

Can any of you Jose people please describe how you think Jose wins the fight?
Jose wins this fight with leg kicks. Conor's range/timing control is based on covering distance quickly. He does this with his unusually wide stance which, southpaw or not, is inherently vulnerable to legkicks.

I think the footwork of this fight will look a lot like the first Machida-Shogun fight. Leg kicks are the kryptonite of that type of stance IMO.

I would say Aldo has better leg kicks but i think Conor has a better overall kicking game. But the rest i agree with.
