The ironic part is I can guarantee you this will only strengthen his resolve against gun ownership. Because in his mind, if a genius like him can fuck up this bad then imagine how dangerous they are in the hands of peasants who don't have a net worth of $60 million.

I just put some gas in my truck ($86 - Thanks Joe!) and it made me wonder...

For movie props, why not have a smaller barrell where it would be impossible to load a live round? Just like they do with diesel pumps and regular gas pumps - you can't fit a diesel pump into the regular gas receiver on a car/truck.

A real bullet can't be fired unless it is loaded. And if you can't load it...

they have those guns and use them all the time.

but for some scenes you need a pop gun and/or visually-accurate gun.

So make them look accurate. The only thing you have to change is the chamber. Could be done with a steel insert.

i think you're underestimating the quantity and diversity of firearms in TV and movies.

we're at 1 death every 20 years from movie guns. let's all take a deep breath before we go looking for problems to fix.

If they could still get a muzzle flash.

It's a pretty easy solution.
I could fix it in my garage with a metal lathe and a tap & die kit.

And in today's era of special effects, they can probably make Will Farrell's wooden gun look like a Glock.

I will also add this - Will has better trigger discipline with a wood gun than Baldwin has with a loaded AK-47.

Baldwin's trigger discipline isn't at issue in this situation. And I think you underestimate the burden of your solution to this non-problem.

most historical firearms are rented pieces, you want to spin a black-powder Winchester 1886 on your lathe?

I wouldn't need to turn the gun. I'd make a barrell insert.

And I doubt they are using 1886 Winchesters in movies anyway.

Kurt Russell fucked that up when he smashed a priceless Martin guitar from 1870.

you're just adding a step to "but they forgot to..."
