Hey - They were down after Q1.

I doubt Charleston Southern gives them much of a game next week. Risky to play a non-conference team of that caliber this late in the season. *eyeroll*

ten p5 opponents this season, and UAB won their conference last year so at least respectable

how many quarters has tOSU been outscored in...

tOSU isn't very good this year.

But that has nothing to do with playing a D3 patsy this late in the season. The entire SEC conference does it every year. Weak sauce.

You can't tell me you're excited for that game.

They're no Akron or Tulsa...
UGA was playing conference games the weeks Ohio St played those teams. Were you excited then?

UGA is playing ten games vs P5 teams. Why does it matter when the two cupcakes games are? Should they play them both early and get artificially inflated in rankings?

Charleston Southern is division I, btw. Just like Akron and Tulsa.

No, I never get excited for the cupcakes.
But it's a little more understandable to do it in the beginning of the year while you are working out kinks and depth charts.

The worst week if college football is the week before rivalry week in the SEC. Just a whole shit ton of 80-7 blowouts.

Disagree. A weak opponent is a weak opponent. I don't care of it's week 2 or week 11

And I'm not giving a team for playing a scrimmage while sorting out it's depth chart while another team is playing a conference game. Sort out your depth chart in the spring.

It makes way more sense to give your team a breather after playing a tough stretch vs giving your team a breather in week 2 and 3.

Disagree.
You want a breather, schedule a bye week.

Beating Little Sisters of the Poor University by 90 pts is bad form.

UGA's Zamir White getting the edge against Charleston Southern...

Then why do you get a pass when you schedule them back to back in week 3 and 4? Why is playing a cupcake ok at the beginning and not the end?

One team is padding stats and playing vs walk ons while the other jumps right into conference play. If you want to work on your depth chart do it during the spring or during a bye week

Also this is wrong. As of right now they're probably #2 in the country. Win the next three and they're at worst #2, possibly #1
I've watched every down of every game.
They aren't very good. The defense is playing better than it was earlier in the season, but they are still pretty bad. I think they probably lose to either Michigan State or TTUN. Maybe both.

They do have some elite players on offense.

For the same reason NFL has preseason games before the season instead of putting on an exhibition game against a high school team right before playoffs start.

College has no preseason. Big games start week one. Oranges to bowling balls

I've never actualy heard someone defend SEC's practice of scheduling high school teams on Week 12. This has been entertaining.

If your argument was "never play these teams" it would hold water

But your argument is "play the weak teams early to build confidence makes sense but playing them at the end of the season is pathetic"

It's the dumbest thing you've ever said on here. And you're an Ohio State fan, so it's saying a lot

And you're confusing me defending them playing those teams with pointing out the logical fallacy of your argument.

I don’t like cupcake games in the beginning, middle, or end of the season. There is no entertainment in watching big schools pound little schools by 60. It has to be hard on the athletes. I wouldn’t want to play Bama knowing i was gonna get blasted on live tv and Sportscenter. The only ones who benefit from those games are the universities. The big schools pay those small schools millions to get in there and get rammed in the ass. The athletes don’t benefit, nor do the fans.

All that being said... the schools are going to do it. And if they are going to do it, it should be at the beginning of the season when it doesn’t matter. If you lose at the end of the season the stupid committee don’t think you should be in the tournament. And why risk getting a player hurt in a meaningless game late in the season?

I have watched every snap too. The defense is coming around, but you are 100% right. They are way down by OSU standards. They will be much better next year. Even a down year, they can still beat anyone on any given day if the breaks go their way.

Also, They should’ve beat Michigan State.

Oh I would. I would be amped to play against teams like that at their place. But to your point, the excitement probably fades a bit when you are down 35-0 in the first quarter.

I don’t know what’s crazier- the fact that Mel Tucker has a 95 million dollar, ten year deal on the table or the fact that he hasn’t accepted. Dude really wants that LSU job, it’s obvious.
