thats the primary reason why it doesnt appeal to me. i could care less what anyone else thinks about something, so im not interested in reviews

but to be fair, some peoples reactions are enteraining. so the show/movie isnt really the content per se, its the reactors that are the content

and there are also hardcore fans who like hearing how non-book readers are taking in the show. and who they predict as the dragon reborn for instance

but its totally not my cup of tea. before a season 3, i sometimes watch season 2 recaps. i find those useful. so i try to make efficient recaps. and when i was new to Game of Thrones, i used to watch history and lore breakdowns. so i found that useful, and thus, make history and lore type shit for other stories

but basically, if i see someone making a face on a thumbnail, or if i see a person on camera in a video, i know immediately its not the type of content im looking to consume

in terms of padan fain, i found that one the first watch through. but thats the type of insight i pride myself on in my content

take the new money heist for instance. i didnt watch the top "ending explained" video. but it has about 100k views and mine has 1k so far. to be fair, i didnt even work on it the day it came out since i was busy until 10pm still working on The Wheel of Time from the day before. and i half asses my saturday because i was burnt out. so i was two days behind

but even under normal circumstances, im a day later than others because instead of watching sometjhing once and churning out a recap/ending as quickly as possible, i always

- watch
- write rought draft
- rewatch to pick up details i missed
- amend final draft
- record audio
- watch the entire episode or episodes a third time while producing the video

so i go way overboard compared to most. yet they get out first and win in terms of views and money lol.

fuckers

butttt, as sandor once said (timestamped):

lol. after some messages such as that one in particular, i look back at the length and think about deleting them because it puts the other person ( Q @Qat in this instance) in the position to either read, ignore, or just slap a like on it and pretend to have read hahah

Don't mind the haters and write your ass off, my attention span can handle it.

Is the German word "Reich" pronounced more like reik or more like reish?

Is it a regional thing?

I've heard both pronunciations from different (native German) speakers.

Not trying to derail the thread but didn't know where else to ask this.

Not reik. If anyone said it to you like that he/she was prolly trying to emulate how many English speaking people say it.

At least I never heard a word with ch in the middle or end to be spoken like that. I suppose it is possible some backwater region does it to a few words though. Or maybe the Swiss.

An example I do know where Ch is (wrongly) used as K is China. People don't know how to say it, some use China, some use Kina, some use Schina.

Do note tho that sh is not correct either.
There is a clear difference between sch and ch. On the top of my head I can't think of an Englisch equivalent to ch. But sh like in share, is definitely sch.
Reich is not Reisch tho.

I mean you do have the word chair for example. But that is rather a sh too, no?

More like a tch. Short release rather than the continuous, flowing sound of sh.

If you can look up the IPA symbol for the final sound in Reich, it would help.

In chair, for example, the initial sound is /tʃ/.

Q @Qat I thought English had a lot of vowel sounds with its 11 vowels and 3 dipthongs (AmE and BrE), but standard German dwarfs it with 15 vowels and 4 dipthongs (most languages have around 5 vowel sounds and 1 or 2 dipthongs).

Consonants around the same though. You guys struggle with interdental sounds in English the way we would struggle with pf at the beginning of a word in German.

I still struggle with Th at times. And Massachusetts is the worst state simply for its name.

Elizabeth's birthday is on the third Thursday of this month.

Drill that sentence until you can say it without mistakes or pauses. Then you'll have mastered the two interdental sounds in English.

Sorry, sir. Are Moiraine and the Amerlyn Seat muff divers in the books as well or is the show just trying to be woke?
the books arent explicit like "A Song of Ice and Fire," but they are described as "pillow friends" when they trained together to become Aes Sedai.

book readers interpret "pillow friends" differently, but offline, Robert Jordan has said that that is his way of saying they were hooking up

My understanding was that according to RJ Moraine and Suian were not actually lesbians and most pillow friends were novices in their teenage years isolated from society and relieving their “loneliness.” As adults they are just best friends.

@conor mcgregor nut hugger you should probably address your queries to me

thats your interpretation. it was mine as well. but the author said that his wording was intended to imply that they hooked up. so take that as you will

Pillow friends are not just good friends. Oh, they are that, too, but they also get hot and sweaty together and muss up the sheets something fierce. By the way, pillow friends is a term used in the White Tower. The same relationship between men or women elsewhere would be called something else, depending on the country.

Sorry. I forget that the other guy doesn't read the books himself but rather has someone read them to him.
