It's right to be distrustful of the government. Government is humans, and humans are greedy and deceitful and selfish and corrupt. Especially ambitious type humans.
Identical? No of course not. Cut from the same cloth? Yes. When you spend 20 years around the government bureaucracy it becomes very obvious that politics is nothing more than theater for the masses.

Yeah it's naive to think that the world is complex and nuanced and multifaceted, and that major issues and their solutions can't be distilled into one or two sentences, and that "everything sucks and everyone is stupid and everything is pointless" is an adolescent mentality.
there's a difference between investigating fraud and preventing it in the future, and dismissing lawsuits for standing.

It's not all naive to think that. It is however extremely naive to think that politicians give a flying fuck about any of the aforementioned qualities, or most importantly how their decisions impact the public.
Oh yeah, no politician ever genuinely believes in anything or ever wants or tries to do anything good for anyone or have any kind of positive impact on any area of society in any way, ever. Not a single one of them, not ever. The world and human beings are just that goddamned black and white, everything is just that easy.

I'll put it this way. The only people who are doing polls are people that are willing to sit on the phone for half an hour answering ridiculous questions. Some polls are done online, but again when it says "This will take about 5 minutes" Sure, why not. "This will take 30-40 minutes." on the other hand...
