I love how there's just a different set of rules for politicians. Makes you feel so good about what kind of people they must be.
Makes me think of how much big shots used to be able to get away with, before cell phones, and before people could be tracked so easily.

Like how cops used to be able to freely plant evidence or effect false arrests. Lots of innocent people got fucked over.

It's right to be distrustful of the government. Government is humans, and humans are greedy and deceitful and selfish and corrupt. Especially ambitious type humans.

But government is also an inevitable necessity. There's no way around that, so what now? Are all factions and all people within an individual government the same?

"Distrustful of the government" doesn't mean "everything they say is automatically bullshit, and everything they do is fundamentally rotten and corrupt."

It's all very well to whine that Fauci has no credibility, every system is fundamentally and inevitably rotten and broken, and everything is corrupt and incompetent in planning and execution.

But that's no different to saying that the government never lies, always knows what's best, and is always genuinely trying to do what's best for everybody. It's no more insightful or accurate. The world is far too huge and complex for these blanket statements.

Identical? No of course not. Cut from the same cloth? Yes. When you spend 20 years around the government bureaucracy it becomes very obvious that politics is nothing more than theater for the masses.

Great, so it's all the same and nothing anyone does matters?

This is simpleton thinking. You sound like a teenager who has listened to half a semesters worth of Chomsky interviews on YouTube. It isn't wise or insightful to just moan that everything is fucked and everyone sucks and nothing matters. It's juvenile.

"The essence of propaganda is unswerving simplicity and repetition."

STOP THE STEAL!
LOCK HER UP!
BUILD THE WALL!
DRAIN THE SWAMP!
LET'S GO BRANDON!

But yeah....... good one.

Two-thirds of Republican voters now live in enough of a propaganda-constructed alternate reality that they think that the election was stolen from Trump.

Two thirds of them.

Is this opinion based in or supported by any kind of reality?

No, it is based on absolutely nothing except the constant repetition of simple lies, almost a half dozen examples of which I gave to you. And now because of these lies, American democracy itself is in real and serious danger.

That didn't just happen. They were programmed with constant repetition of simple lies. Just like the quote says.

That doesn't fit the quote? Why, because you'd rather not acknowledge the point of how it's gone WAY further on the right?

But yeah........ CNN, waaaaaaaah.

Yeah it's naive to think that the world is complex and nuanced and multifaceted, and that major issues and their solutions can't be distilled into one or two sentences, and that "everything sucks and everyone is stupid and everything is pointless" is an adolescent mentality.

there's a difference between investigating fraud and preventing it in the future, and dismissing lawsuits for standing.

the fraud needs to be investigated.

But CNN keeps repeating INSURRECTION!!!!

look at CNN's coverage of the Rittenhouse railroading.

The word "insurrection" means "a violent uprising against an authority or government."

There is no possible way to credibly argue that Jan 6 was not a violent uprising against a lawfully elected government and those legislators who legally certified it.

YOU are the one who is lying here.

look at CNN's coverage of the Rittenhouse railroading.
Yeah it was poor. They pushed their agenda. So what? They have no legal requirement to portray the issue in a fair way, and give time to other opinions. Not since the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine. You calling for something like that to come back?

Hey while we're whining about CNN, want to talk how multiple CNN hosts have the White House residence's private number, and any one or more of half a dozen CNN and MSNBC bobbleheads are chatting with Biden every single night?

And then in the morning Biden walks into the Oval Office, his advisors and Cabinet members put documents about the issues of the day in front of him...... and he refuses to read any of them and instead tells his advisors "well Rachel Maddow says we should do this, but Anderson Cooper says we should do this...."?

Oh, wait! That was the Fox anchors running half the government by proxy for four years. But not a single one of you guys will have the basic honesty to even do much as acknowledge that this even happened at all........ will you?

It's not all naive to think that. It is however extremely naive to think that politicians give a flying fuck about any of the aforementioned qualities, or most importantly how their decisions impact the public.

Oh yeah, no politician ever genuinely believes in anything or ever wants or tries to do anything good for anyone or have any kind of positive impact on any area of society in any way, ever. Not a single one of them, not ever. The world and human beings are just that goddamned black and white, everything is just that easy.

Great analysis! You binary little teenage simpleton.

As I said, you're very naive. You only have to walk into Hy's Steakhouse and see sworn enemies playing grab ass together a handful of times to realize that it's Pro-Wrestling.

John Lee Pettimore @John Lee Pettimore source for 2/3 of republican voters think election was stolen?
polling has been showing a surprisingly high percentage of republican voters believe that the election was stolen

obviously take this with a wheel barrow of salt since i dont even have a source, but my subconscious memory of polling is that its even more than 2/3. 80% iirc

if true, thats scary

Have you ever done polling before? This isn't meant to be a gotcha, it's an honest question.

The word "insurrection" means "a violent uprising against an authority or government."

so Jan 6 2021, which lasted a few hours, affected 1 building, and did nothing to stop the transfer of power was an "insurrection"...

what do you call what happened on Jan 6 2022 in Kazakhstan?

no, unless we're conflating "fraud occurred" with "stolen by the Deep State"

the people who show up to see JFK Jr are the ones who think it was "stolen"

Instead of cryptic allusions, how about you just directly say what you mean. I'm sick of trying to guess what the hell you are even saying. "Sworn enemies?" Who? Rival politicians? Politicians and journalists?

im jammed up watching something right now. but ill come back to this thread when i come across a poll yhats being discussed among my commie friends

but for what its worth, the discussions ive heard about the polling over the last few months addressed the questions and answer options

and the polling im referring to was very explicitly asking whether trump got more votes. not if there is 0 fraud in elections

no, ive never been involved in any polling organization
I'll put it this way. The only people who are doing polls are people that are willing to sit on the phone for half an hour answering ridiculous questions. Some polls are done online, but again when it says "This will take about 5 minutes" Sure, why not. "This will take 30-40 minutes." on the other hand...

i hear ya

there is going to be a percentage of team red that answer "stolen" on principle even if they dont think it was stolen

but the results are scary regardless imo

All of the above.

You know for a guy who's decided to make "nuance" and "multi-faceted" his new catch phrases you sure don't pick up anything that you aren't beat over the head with.
