That was year 5 for him. He should be able to handle that shit by then. Obviously the league figured out he wasn't good enough to assign blitz coverages and hit hot receivers.

You are correct. He didn't throw many INTs. If I were to rewatch those games my assumption is I'd see a lot of balls thrown away into the sidelines.
LoL - like he controls receivers and offensive coordination.

if you rewatch those games, you'll see a shitload of -1 yard sacks and dropped balls.

his receivers were Vance McDonald, Quinton Patton, Torrey Smith, and Jeremy Kerley. The entire offense was shit and the defense was even worse.

I remember watching some of his games. He wasn't good. It sounds like you watched more than I so maybe the 1-11 record was more on the shitty team than the shitty QB. But I still maintain his talent wasn't good enough to justify the headache. If he was good - really good - someone would have signed him.

that's not how blacklisting works.

NFL teams will happily have murderers play for them if they are good enough to offset the combination of price tag and bad publicity.

You really think that 32 team owners got together and decided no-one would hire him, whilst laughing maniacally and twirling their waxed moustaches?

It's a QB league, if he was that good some team would have him as their starter.

he was bad for the league, and he was bad in a way that questioned the ownership and power structure of the league. it's not a big conspiracy, he wasn't good enough to justify the problems he highlighted. No black QB was that good.

It's either a) he was blacklisted (a big conspiracy), or b) he's not good enough to justify the combination of the wages he demanded and the bad publicity he caused. I think it was b).

Kap was like Tebow.
The Hassle of media had become an energy drain that couldn't be overcome by the in game talents.

If he wanted to play he could have kept playing, he wasn't blackballed at all.
He simply quit...and was too much drama to be re hired for his asking price.

it's not like every team needed a QB, it doesn't take a 32 team conspiracy to blacklist someone.

you say 'bad publicity', but it was good publicity for society...and the NFL could have made good publicity out of the situation - like they're doing now. But the owners couldn't be told what to do by one of their subjects, that would destroy the entire system.

If there wasn't a gathering of NFL owners who decided not to hire him, then how is he "blacklisted"?

There have been plenty of teams unhappy with their starting QBs since Kaep last played. If he had the talent, he'd have started for one of them.

like you said, he brings political capital with him...if you don't know how to spend that capital it's a burden. He's blacklisted by the NFL telling certain owners that it's not in the interest of the league to keep Kap in the spotlight. Remember, those owners are franchisees.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I think that your theory sounds a bit paranoid.

i don't think you've been paying attention to how much control "New York" exerts over the league. It's not a meritocracy of talent.

Nothing to do with blacklisted. That's how economic decisions are made. When Ray Rice decked that chick in the motel room, if he was coming off his 1300 yd / 12 TD season instead of his 600 yd / 4 TD season - dude would have gotten a call.

You can be a problem in the NFL, but you gotta be worth it. Kaep wasn't worth it.

And didn't both Seattle and Denver make him offers anyway? That's not how blacklisting works.

Changing the subject a bit, Hauler @Hauler are you aware that you have the Simpsons prediction on your side?

Remember, they predicted Trump as POTUS back in the day!

And didn't both Seattle and Denver make him offers anyway? That's not how blacklisting works.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll met with reporters on Friday and was asked why the team chose not to sign Kaepernick.

"He's a starter in this league," he said, per Fox Sports' Andre Vergara. "We have a starter, but he is a starter in this league and I can't imagine somebody won't give him a chance to play."

they wanted to score a bargain by paying him less than his "starter" price. They never made an offer.

again, Kaep's poor numbers have more to do with being a 3rd year QB with an OLine coach for a HC, in a "rebuilding" team. At the time, no one was arguing his talent. It was only after the lawsuit that suddenly the narrative switched to "he's just not good enough to play in the NFL"

And Denver? He just didn't want to play there?

No one? I remember reading articles about how Kaep had lost his touch long before the kneeling shit took center stage.

Is he good?

All I know about him is that he strengthened your running game.
The phrase I keep hearing him referenced as is “savant” and that his football knowledge is off the charts. However, he’s not one of those who is “the smartest guy in the room and makes sure you know it” type (that shit was a big issue with Flores). He is very relatable to his players, which is why anyone who ever played under him at his various roles in San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston and Cleveland all would tell you, they’d run through walls for him. He works to each player’s strengths and simplifies it to them. He’s also a big “self accountability” guy. If there’s shortcomings, he won’t point fingers 50 directions. He’ll own them.

More than one in the coaching community have stated they think he could become the prize of Mike Shanahan’s coaching tree. When you realize how damn good that tree has become, it should give you an idea how much a ceiling McDaniel has.

This isn’t Gase, Philbin or the other asinine comparisons the fan base are making. He’s had lengthy experience in the NFL building up less than players to look far better than they are. He didn’t puff his chest after jock riding Peyton Manning in 2014. Not saying he’s a slam dunk. No first time head coach is. He could completely shit the bed too, but I have a hell of a lot of confidence about this one. With talks that he’s talking to Fangio and Munchak about joining his coaching staff, if he finalizes that deal, I’m even more stoked. I wasn’t for any of the last candidates. Even “Brian Almighty.”
