Actually a very pleasant midsummer day in New Zealand. Half past nine on Saturday morning, birds are chirping, very slight cool breeze...... should be a nice day.

??
Turned out it was a very nice day. Now the sun is setting and it's starting to rain, so hopefully that'll continue and I'll sleep under the sound of rain tonight.

??

So tell me. Texas has been in the National news recently because of unusual weather patterns.
What's it generally like where you are, in late February?
This is actually fairly typical. Often, the coldest spell we have is in early February (which we had a couple weeks ago). The rainy days are also fairly typical of this time of year. And then it oscillates like the above pic shows on into the spring. Spring is a lot of 80s and low 90s days before the summer sets in. Nothing too unusual from what I can tell. We don't get a lot of actual cold weather, but we do get 40 to 50 degree shifts in the timespan of one day.

The weather app pics I posted yesterday weren’t even accurate, colder than expected. It was 89 yesterday and I was wearing shorts and sandals. Then it was 33 when I got up this morning. Warmed up to a balmy 36 now.

I’m well aware that’s not nearly as cold as it is for some of y’all, but these big temp shifts are wild. Nobody ever has time to adjust to real winter temps down here because it’s never consistently cold, so when one of these shifts happen everyone is freezing.

I grew up in the Midwest, so I was more used to winter similar to what you get. But yeah, with consistency you at least adjust. 33 felt cold this morning since it was almost 90 yesterday lol. I just went to get a hot tea, and people are wearing parkas and ugg boots lol. It's not that cold guys.....but Texans are soft with the cold weather.

Have the day off work, and this is what I wake up to…7998BE17-BACF-443F-9C97-E60FA0B89C86.jpegit’s been really cold the last few days, but I don’t remember seeing any snow forecasted.

Yes, I am well aware that this isn’t a lot of snow. But, I live in Portland. This amount will fuck traffic up today.

Yah, peeps don't all know how to adjust to driving in slick conditions.

Here in Michigan we don't either but we have no excuses

Here in Austin, that snow would also fuck traffic up really bad lol. People literally have no idea, and they try to zip around like normal and end up crashing into shit. Even though it’s not really that bad, roads like that always makes for a busy day for cops and tow trucks. It still kind of blows my mind that people are surprised that the roads get slick….maroons!
