Over here we have free healthcare. I have private medical coverage on top of that.
Thats the way it should be. Gives people an incentive to better themselves and get private healthcare or deal with the waits for free healthcare. The only people that got screwed over were people that have jobs but dont qualify for subsidies here.

Yep, the ACA sounds really shitty to me.

And this is why people dont like socialism here. American socialism is nothing more than a war on the middle class. Rich people will still be rich, poor people will still be poor and the middle class keeps getting less and less everyday.

There's a lot of fixing to be done, but I think a good start would be to close the current tax loopholes that allow the rich to keep getting richer at the expense of the lower classes.

Social programs don't have to be that way.

Nobody wants it to change man. If you are a single mom with a couple kids just a small promotion, couple bucks a hour, could actually mean you lose money because you dont qualify for help. So do you better your job situation at the expense of your children? We reward lack of initiative in this country and thats why people hate socialist shit. In Murica socialism means being rewarded for not trying, getting someting for nothing, more taxes so fewer people have to try at life.

Agreed. No incentive to better oneself. Being healthy, being productive, getting a raise, means punishment for the ones that seek to climb out of the lower class. No incentive at all to become independent from the government.

Its hard to fight against the government when you are totally dependent on them.

Not sure in the UK but in Australia you get basic care for free under the medicare scheme but for things like optical, dental and elective surgeries you either need to pay or take out private health care insurance and select the options you want so if you have say 20/20 vision you probably wont select optical and save some premium. Private health care will also provide you with things like a private room if in hospital whereas you only get a private room under medicare if you really need one like the first few days after having a baby.

Private health insurance will also give you a rebate for preventative treatments like massages and acupuncture whereas you pay 100% if you dont have it.

Make sense?

Nah not quite but before I respond further when I watch american movies and someone get shot and taken to hospital and they wont treat them unless they have Insurance, does that reflect the real situation there or not?

absolutely not

some people do get denied health care at er's sometimes due to ignorant staff or because someone "cried wolf" one too many times and the staff acted unprofessionally

Hospitals have so much unpaid accounts receivable its insane. BUT because they are in bed with the government they get to write that shit off on taxes AND they have insurance on that shit (I think)

I see no problem with a basic level of healthcare. This is a society issue, not everybody is going to agree.

I also don't like that insurance companies don't have to cover terminal cases. I don't see how anybody can argue that point at all.

So you guys have free emergency health care?
Like if i went to the er I pay a $75 co pay i think it is or maybe $150 (I dont pay that right there I'd be billed) , but i also pay nothing for my health insurance via my job and i only pay less than $10 a month for vision and dental

Its not free but plenty of people dont pay
Okay makes sense. Same scenario here IRL you dont have to pay the hospital for emergency care they treat you and cut you lose, you wont get a bill.

Shit in my 4th world homeland of the Fiji Islands my lil cousin drank too much rum, isnt a Fijian citizen, born in Australia and he got free hospital care for feeling too drunk, they stuck an IV in him, with fluids and vitamins and even gave him food. I went to settle the bill while he was sleeping and they said "what bill, Fiji has free health care"

Would you get that treatment for free in America? in Australia they tell you to harden the fuck up.....

Yeah well Fiji is a basket case, back to the first world, we get free emergency care in Oz with no bills. I think that is the major difference between our socialist health care system and your capitalist one which will seek at least partial reimbursement.

Agreed?

I dont follow America's internal politics but Obama seems like a real bitch. When he visited here people were not happy, the secret service asked our police not to let anyone with a bike chain within 5kms of where Obama was staying

Fucking pansy
