Of course but if someone broke in to steal your tv and you killed them how would you deal with that? Personally i feel if you invade someones personal space you dont get to bitch about what happens when they find you.

You shoot a young man who breaks in a steals your wallet, you learn later that he has kids and was laid off and was trying to feed them. Legally youd be fine but personally that shit would rob me of my sleep at best.
No reason to steal but i would probably feel same way. I have given this alot of thought so maybe instead of raging i would fire warning shots. Now take one step towards me or the kids and the game changes completely. I also have a dog that will hopefully not help the thief take my shit.

If someone was attempting to break into my home, I wouldn't be waiting around to find out if they just wanted the TV, or if they wanted to kill my family slowly. I don't want to shoot anybody. I'd rather be left alone. That is why I have layers of precautions so that it doesn't come down to pulling weapons. I keep the back gate locked at night, trim bushes, and minimize hiding spots. I don't leave shovels or garden tools out back and I stay pretty vigilant.
I haven't worked since January 22nd so my sleep schedule is out of whack. I'm up at night now. I got laid off and was diagnosed with a hernia right after. I was hit by a careless driver four days before surgery and now I have nerve damage. I was supposed to be clear for work on Monday, but was told today to stay off work until August 22nd now.

Those situations can turn ugly real quick. They came for the wallet but end up murdering you. Speaking of wanting the wallet, this happened the other day...
Dad finds knife-wielding intruder hiding inside home
A Langley family is reeling after finding a man with a hunting knife hiding in their basement early Tuesday morning.
The father of the house, John Buchinski, said it was a frightening experience coming face-to-face with the armed intruder, but it could have been even worse if the man had gone unnoticed.
“I would have gone to work and this guy would have been in the basement with my two daughters at home, and that’s pretty unnerving,” Buchinski said.
The terrifying incident started when Buchinski’s wife was heading out to work around 4 a.m. She noticed someone had broken into her truck, and there was a stranger's bike at their gate.
She also saw one of the doors to their home was ajar.
Buchinski said they soon realized one of their daughters' wallets was missing as well. He headed downstairs to look around and the intruder suddenly leapt out of a basement closet with the knife.
“It all kind of unraveled so fast,” Buchinski said. “I backed up the stairs, him coming towards me, really like five feet between us.”
The father shouted to his family to let them know the man was inside and armed. Eventually, the burglar wound up trapped in their garage, and Buchinski offered to let him out if he handed over his daughter’s wallet.
“To my surprise, he did,” Buchinski said.
The suspect ran away without his shoes, which were later found at the residence. Mounties were called to the scene but were unfortunately unable to locate him, despite help from the Lower Mainland Police Dog Services.
The RCMP said officers are now hunting for a suspect described as a young, white man with a darker complexion, 5’9” or 5’10” tall, who was last wearing a hoodie and grey socks.

The worst part is the hernia was caused by the fact that I was lifting stainless steel ductwork by myself at a wastewater treatment plant, but I was already laid off and couldn't prove it. I also got ecoli on that job and was sick for over two weeks because they do not give us the proper vaccinations. I failed to document anything now I'm fucked. The economy went to shit and I didn't want to rock the boat. I literally finished the job on a Friday at 2:00pm by myself and was called to the shop and laid off.

I have no sympathy for someone illegally entering a home during sleeping hours especially. I don't care what they're trying to steal or why, they are most likely going to cease to breathe. I feel very strongly that a person has a right to feel 100% secure and safe in their home. I don't care if they are trying to get my tv or wallet, they chose to come in and are now a threat to me and mine. You want to steal my stuff, go right ahead when no ones home. If they need to feed kids like @Ladyboy mentioned, and they are pursuing a wallet then they are clearly not thinking clear. Shoplifting from a grocery store rarely ends with being killed, not so with burglarizing a home.

Agreed. I've already been through my PTSD block of instruction. I know how to deal with taking a life mentally and emotionally. Someone comes in my house they better be ready to kill or die.
I totally agree but you still have to live with what you do. Not everyone is mentally capable of dealing with that especially after dealing with the police and coming home to the aftermath. Someone bleeding out on your floor then having to clean it up leaves alot of time for reflection about what happened.
I imagine you had lots of brothers that werent able to cope. The suicide rates of soldiers and Marines attest to the fact its not easy to deal with those emotions. Glad you came through it.
Unless you're a black girl stealing juice and the store owner is Korean. LOL

Yeah man, it's rough but thankfully i had a great support system. My buddy Mark, not so much. He didn't off himself, and we still talk. A big part of that guy never came back home.
For sure. but I promise for me it's an easy choice...clean up a criminals/strangers blood, or potentially cleaning up my sons blood if I was to survive, If that was to happen then I would have 100% failed in my duties as a father to protect him.
