Stockhold Syndrome. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Dreamer returns as well. It is what it is. All we can do is build a site that blows the others away...we can't force people to explore & embrace change.
While they're stuck in year 1998...we shall continue enjoying auto refreshing fight threads, chat, instant alerts, sharing content w/ the click of a button, etc. Maybe they will see the light some day.
It took me a while to come over here too. I got the invite from you(IWEI) right away. I guess the loyalty in my character was holding me back. Maybe tenure had something to do with it too 1/1/01. But that that doesn't really shit and gives me little to no clout with that circus over there. When I took the plunge and really started hanging out here and posting it was so refreshing. No clowns talking shit. No childish name calling. I could go on forever but you arlready know. Thank you for everything you've done and created. I'm here to stay.

I popped in earlier this evening to see if I was missing anything over there. Taz Styles posted a new thread with a video of the EXOS training center and someone replied with "Fuck OP." That's it. No context at all. I just don't see how that type of negativity is tolerated over there. And what's the point of using a discussion forum if you're going to act like that anyway?

Initially when I signed up here I planned on using the UG on fight nights because I like cards threads he makes for each fight. I liked trying to keep tally of my score. Alas it's not a patch on the live threads here but I do miss hanging with them 2 guys fight night.

it took me a while to come here too. I got the invite back in Feb. didnt sign up until april. I fucking hate the UG. I fucking hate it. any opinion I have it gets shut down as various insults "christmas douche" "the guy who got told off by Dana" and many others. its like they dont even read what I post, as soon as they see my name its game over. the funny part is everything I called Dana out on came true. but yet I still get shit on for it, everyday. I get insulted for having integrity and pride in what i say and feel, its truly horrific. its nothing but unimformed shills and mods running wild doing as they please....I fucking hate it. I know it shouldnt have bothered me when I lost 300+ vote ups because I fucking hate The Geek, and after that day I argued with him (because he blindly adores the UFC and the UG) they made him a fucking MOD!!!! you got to be kidding me right? I rarely go to the UG. maybe once a month. I go to the OG every day. its the same reasons you give, time spent, the thousands and thousands of awesome posts. its hard to give that up. you might say, why not just make a "post never not funny..." thread here?? well that has crossed my mind but that makes this place feel like that place, and I dont want that.

The UG is the nightmare truck stop bathroom wall of the internet, complete with 20 glory holes already in use and the swastika made of feces.
I will vouch for Dreamer, he was one of the few mods who assisted me on some issues when I used to post there. Other mods and Admins made it a point to ignore PM's or posts that I sent to them, still others instigated 'arguments' and pretended it was everybody else. This is a post Dreamer sent to me one time that should tell something about his character...

IMO, there is nothing more important to this site than the members who populate it.
This place is a community, it exists because of, and for, the people in it.
A mods job isn't just to punish trolls, we also try to help members who are having problems. We don't always succeed but we do try.
We catch some flak, we get called glorified hall monitors, nerds, whatever. I could care less.
Several of the mods here are military veterans, fighters, police officers and so on so many of us are or were public servants in one way or another, this is just another way for us to continue doing what we enjoy.
I like helping people, I enjoy being able to solve problems and I think that goes for the mods and admins here as well. This is our community too, most of us were just members here like everyone else before we became mods.
Like the forums we argue and disagree about things but at the end of the day we have each others backs, however, any of us can lose our modships for many reasons and some have. We are not above reproach or consequences for our actions.
If this place wasn't a community I never would have wanted to mod here. I've seen this place come together and do some amazing things for people, we've collectively mourned our fallen and reached out to those in need.
So again, nothing is more important than the people in this community when it comes to moderating IMO.
