Twins/Mariners have been putting up footbal scores. Seattle won 14-3 the Twins came back the next night to win 20-7. ERA's getting bloated.

The Twins called up a kid from triple A to start in Cleveland. Jose Berrios pounded the strike zone with some really good stuff. 7.2 IP 2H 1ER. MN is up 4-1 in the bottom of the ninth. They have homered in twelve strait games.
He's on the mound today vs Seattle. Twins up 6-1in the fifth. He's been good for Minnesota so far. 6 Starts hes 5-1, 2.84 ERA, 38IP, 40Ks before today.

Eduardo Escobar yesterday was 6 AB, 6 Hits. Today he's 3 for 3. I dont remember the last time I've seen something like this. Maybe Kirby Puckett pulled of something similar.

[Edit]Berrios Today-8IP, 5H, 2ER, 7K, ERA down to 2.74. 7GS, 6W-1L

A Houston fan touched a ball in fair play yesterday, resulting in a ground rule double. When security came to check it out, a Boston kid was quick to snitch and get the Astros fan ejected. And this game was in Houston.

I can't link ESPN vids, but it's here if you want to see it.
Astros fan gets ejected after young Red Sox fan tattles - ESPN Video

I'm sure you'll have to watch a 30 second commercial though because ESPN sucks donkey dicks.

The Reds unveiled a new statue at Great American Ballpark this weekend.

Pete Rose:

There are a bunch of statues around GABP. It's like an outside gallery.

My favorite depicts a scene with the battery of Joe Nuxhall (P) and Ernie Lombardi (C) with Frank Robinson at the plate:

Part of an infield is depicted outside the stadium - complete with bases and a pitcher's mound that is the exact height of the MLB specifications for when these guys played. Another statue of a Red's legend - Ted Kluszewki - is included in the scene as he waits in the on deck circle:

People - mostly the kids - have fun with the scene prior to games. A few winters ago someone made a snowman to be the umpire:

When Nuxie died tons of people went down to the stadium to pay their respects. I was one of them. It was pretty cool.

Others around the stadium:

Tony Perez:

Joe Morgan:

Johnny Bench:

If you don't want to get run over - don't stand in front of the plate when Pete Rose is rounding 3rd.

It is known.

To quote Rose : "He left me no recourse because there was no place to slide. There's no sense in ever sliding into a bag if you can't get the bag."
plus in those days there was bonus money to the winning side of the ASG, that's blood in the water to a guy like Pete

I used to get yelled at by my coaches for going too hard, even in practice, and I would always tell him that it's because Pete and I shared the same birthdate. He never would buy it and always made me run but I didn't give a shit.

The Mets rocked Kershaw last night with 4 HRs - got 6 runs off of him total. Dodgers still won though, 10-6.

The Nats stole 7 bases in their 6-1 victory over Chicago last night, and Cubs catcher Miguel Montero put the blame squarely on his pitcher.

"It really sucked, because the stolen bases go on me. But when you really look at it, the pitcher doesn't give me any time, so yeah, 'Miggy can't throw anyone out,' but my pitchers don't hold anyone on."

Bad form, bro. Even if you're right, you don't throw teammates under the bus like that.

For those that don't remember, Montero is the same guy who criticized Cubs manager Joe Maddon shortly after Chicago won the World Series last year. He was pissed at his lack of playing time, getting only 4 ABs in the Fall Classic.

Looking at the stats, there might be something to the 'Miggy can't throw anyone out' complaints.
His caught stealing % has been in steady decline since 2012 when he posted an impressive 42% :

2012 * 42%
2013 * 33%
2014 * 29%
2015 * 20%
2016 * 11%
2017 * 3%

Montero is Chicago's #2 Catcher, typically only getting starts against RH starters to give #1 Willson Contreras a rest. To compare, Contreras posted a CS% of 37% in 2016 and is at 34% so far this season.

Chicago is in 2nd place in the NL Central, 1 game over .500 at 39-38. Last year at this time the Cubs were 51-26.

Is Houston for real? Or one or 2 injuries away from being mediocre?

I know Washington will falter in the NL.

Any summary of what I'm looking at as far as front runners?

Houston has a great group of young players. They are for real.

Look at CLE and MIN home records. Garbage. That is puzzling.
