I agree people shouldn't be travelling, but flying specifically is generally considered to be fairly low risk because air filtering.
the air filtration would be a factor if you weren't sitting right next to someone for several hours. There's no control over who's getting on the plane, just 'on your honor'. I'm sure there's a way that flying could be made adequately low-risk, but we're not doing any of that.

Have they traced a lot of cases to air travel?

As of November Canada's head doctor was calling transmission on flights "extremely rare".
it's a Catch22. If you have really good contact tracing, you don't get many cases on planes and detections are extremely rare.
if you don't have functional contact tracing, detections are also really rare. It's just a question of whether detections are rare because there isn't anything to detect, or if detections are rare because you suck at detecting.

Do you apply this logic to all activities?

nowhere, AFAIK. I think in New Jersey they said it was 75% non-compliance. And the delays to get results back make it meaningless when they do get compliance.
So do you apply the above logic to all activities? Because it seems like you probably should.

remember this video?
She died this week from COVID. She was 35.

"Anyone who had worked with Zelene Blancas in El Paso knew her as a teacher whose goal was to spread compassion above all else.

Ms. Blancas, who was born in Texas and lived in Mexico for much of her childhood, was a bilingual Spanish teacher at Dr. Sue A. Shook Elementary School, and she was hoping to become a bilingual special education teacher.

She gained popularity online after posting a video in 2018 of her students that gained more than 23 million views. It showed classmates hugging one another before a weekend break, smiles spread across their faces as they said goodbye — a reminder of the human capacity for love and connection.

Ms. Blancas tested positive for the virus on Oct. 20 and was hospitalized a few days later, her brother, Mario Blancas, said. After she had spent nearly two months in the I.C.U. and had exhausted all of her available sick days and paid time off, Mr. Blancas set up a GoFundMe page on Dec. 14 to help pay for his sister’s health care since she would soon be “without an income and will have to pay the full cost of her health insurance out of pocket,” according to the page.

But this week, at just 35 years old, Ms. Blancas died of complications from Covid-19. Her death has devastated the city...."

When you exhaust all your PTO and FMLA, you can be terminated, especially if you do not have long-term disability to kick in afterwards. So while she didn't get fired for being sick, per say, her protection and pay ran out, which made her "eligible" to be fired.
So sad that she passed.

Oh, Jesus Christ. People are arguing over medicare for all when you don't even have basic employment protections?

Edit: Wait, teacher's don't have long term disability insurance?

Pretty much.
This chick came to work when she was positive and even though I tested negative, twice, I was required to stay home for two weeks, without pay. Since it happened the first week of December, I had no PTO left. I collected unemployment for those two weeks but it was not even one third of my usual pay. The girl that was positive was able to return to work after only 10 days, and then went on to travel to NY a week later.
Had I actually been sick, I would have at least been paid 70% after those two weeks, plus the supplemental coverage I pay for.

There are no protections in place for many, unless the company has them.

money wouldn't have solved that problem?
giving the school enough money to pay her salary and a substitute wouldn't have fixed it?
No, giving the school money would not have fixed her lack of job protection.
