So, where are we with the elaboration on this?

I realize above I said without qualifications. But you made one with the after ww2 thingy. Which is actually pretty interesting, so apologies for that.
I still don't understand your thoughts behind it though.
Governments like good citizens who pay their taxes. WW2 led to western governments doubling their tax bases and their citizens thinking that it was a good thing. That being said, I should have said since 9/11 rather than WW2, but it is what it is as that was also a very big windfall and more recent.

Interestingly taxes were one of the things I thought of when asking myself the question what is most important for a government.
So your argument is that Lockdowns lead to increased taxes over the long run? And what was the education thing about?

Ironically in Lockdowns you have less people attending school, and more people being angry at the government it would seem.
Also, you definitely have less taxes coming in since the economy is hit hard. Speaking for my country, even less because the VAT was reduced for the Corona crisis.
Sure the argument can be made that without Lockdowns the economy can be hit just as hard if not harder.

But I think you are jumping ahead quite a bit here with such a statement. Maybe in a few years we can judge that better.

You skipped the good citizen component of my statement, which is what relates to public education and yes I'm definitely jumping ahead and making an overall observation not a specific one. Right now a lot of governments have people segregated from other people, not taking advantage of publicly funded programs, while also continuing to pay taxes. They've created a great circumstance of public dependency and it's one the public is clamoring to have.

20 more Utah schools will shift to online learning after COVID-19 outbreaks — with 14 of those in one hard-hit district.

Nov 4th has passed us by yet COVID is still going strong. Strange.

I got the text yesterday about my kids school. Back to remote learning. Guess the teachers are getting sick. Who would of thought that a school system hurting for school supplies, having teachers set up gofundme for pencils and such would have a problem with gettting masks and sanitizer. Already have my kids home schooled. Wasn't about to send them to go through that. Work has been sending people home. We usually run about 400 cattle an hour. Doing 280. Started stocking up on can goods and such. See a inventory shortage coming.

So a google search shows 53 million cases worldwide with 34.3 million recovered.

For the US they show 10.6 million cases but no data on recovered.

Are we not tracking recovered patients?
